  • View from Fr. Larry Pichard, Pastor

Fr. Ivan will be on vacation from tomorrow, June 15,

through June 26. Fr. Paul Iverson was supposed to start his assignment on

July 1, but he is so eager to start his priestly minister that he asked to start on June 15. Wow! Just in time for “Father’s Day.” He will be out for the weekend of June 27-28 to attend the ordination of a classmate, but that’s OK since that weekend will be the last weekend for Fr. Zach and Fr. Ivan.

Please put on your calendars the evening of Sunday, June 28 as we have a reception/going-away-party/thanksgiving event for both Fr. Zach and Fr. Ivan who will be departing for their new assignments on July 1. Fr. Zach will be serving in Mary Immaculate parish in Farmers Branch; however, he will be spending the month of July in Nicaragua learning even more Spanish. Fr. Ivan will be serving in St. Pius X parish where Dallas, Garland and Mesquite meet. We will miss them tremendously! On July 1 we will receive Fr. Lauro Gonzalez.

Next Saturday, June 20, at 8:30 am Fr. Zach will celebrate the Mass and will anoint those who are seriously sick and those elderly parishioners whose age has affected their health. Please invite and/or bring those who need this consoling Sacrament of the Sick.

Next weekend we will honor all our fathers during Mass since we will be celebrating Father’s Day. After Communion we will ask for God’s special blessing upon them.

Also next weekend we will be dedicating our special collection with baskets in the narthex for our AIDS Supper Club. So, on the first Sunday of each month, a team of our parishioners prepares a delicious meal to feed over 100 people, and we carry the food to several apartments operated by the City of Dallas for those who are living with AIDS. Although the City provides breakfast for the residents, they don’t provide supper. Many churches and service organizations take turns providing supper, and all evenings are covered. We take our lead from St. Francis himself who personally begged for food and then fed the poor. So, next weekend we will be begging for your generosity so that we can raise 7,000 dollars, enough to supplement this charitable ministry for another entire year.
