PASTOR’S NOTE: For some of us, it’s a sense of entitlement. Our education, our social class, our income should move us up to the line, free us from struggles “ordinary” people endure. For others, it’s fear disguised as faith: a “spirituality” that places us on “God’s side”. Then there those mired in resentment and anger. It’s not us - it’s “them.” “They” are the ones responsible for our problem or challenge. We need to get our (fill in the blank) nation, church, community, whatever....back from “them.” While we are not as imperious as the scribes of Jesus’ time, our self-centeredness and thoughtlessness to the plight of others are just as divisive and destructive. The kingdom of Tod is realized only in our embracing the spirit of servanthood that is at the heart of Jesus’ Gospel: a servanthood centered in respect for everyone as sons and daughters of God; one that finds fulfillment and satisfaction in the love, compassion and kindness we extend to others; one that places the common good and struggles of others before our own wants and narrow interests. To follow Jesus it to realize our need for one another and their need for us. Would you beopen to being a Greeter, Usher, Lector, EucharisticMinister, Gift Bearer, or even an Accompanist? Currently, some people are signed up for 3 different roles because

we do not have enough help. Let’s help lend a hand to these folkswho have stepped forward and have committed themselves to rolesfor years.
