CHRISTMAS ADOPTED FAMILIES This Christmas season we have adopted 3 families with a total of 7

children. As in previous years we have very successfully helped needy

families in our area enjoy a Christmas they could not provide for

themselves by not only providing them with a gift, but also attempting to

give them groceries for not just Christmas Day, but hopefully for many

days in Christmas week. As in the past our gift tags with green yarn are grocery

gifts, and the gift tags with red yarn are personal gifts. All personal gifts must be

wrapped with the tag you have chosen attached to them. Grocery items do not

need to be wrapped but please attach the grocery gift tag to them. By attaching

the chosen gift tags to the gifts makes it much easier for us to see that the family

they were chosen for receives your gift. And when you return your gifts please

place them under our little tree and place a red bow on our tree. Thank you for

helping one of our local families have a little brighter Christmas. All gifts need to

be under the tree by Sunday, December 10th

.

Mini-Advent Retreat Saturday, December 9 Beginning with the Sacrament of Reconciliation at 8:30 am followed by Mass and

the Rosary. From 10:00 am to 12:00 noon our Guest Speaker, Father Bob Reddy

will be reflecting on the infancy narratives. We encourage you to read Luke’s

Gospel, chapter 1 and 2 in preparation for this retreat. Refreshments will be

served. Please call Norma Smith at 705-327-7248 or Anne Waggoner at 705-238-

2663 to register. All are welcome!

CSJ. Associastes, Lalemant Group We are again collecting socks for the

homeless. Your contributions have helped the

Foot Clinic run by the Sisters of St. Joseph in

Toronto, the Lighthouse in Orillia, and the

Busby Centre in Barrie in the past. Please help

us again. Boxes are at the entrances of St. Columbkille Church and Guardian

Angels Church, or contact Mary Duffy.

Christmas Flowers-St. Columbkille & St.

Francis of Assisi

Would you like to sponsor Poinsettias for the

Christmas decorations this year. Parishioners

may pick up envelopes marked “Christmas

Flowers” at the entrances of the Church.

Blue Christmas Mass Certainly, the Christmas season is a time of great

joy with the anticipation of Christ’s birth.

Nonetheless, it is also a time of great sorrow for

those of us who remember the people who are no

longer with us-children, spouses, parents, grandparents and friends who have

died. With any holiday or anniversary, memories flood our minds and hearts, and

the absence can become overwhelmingly painful and the days leading up to

Christmas very lonely indeed. We would like to celebrate a Blue Christmas Mass in

remembrance of the people we love so very much, and miss so very much, to

acknowledge that this joyous season also brings with it a need to be aware and

sensitive to the pain and loneliness of so many of us in this parish. The Blue

Christmas Mass will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 7:00 pm at St.

Columbkille Church. Please join us at this Mass, and spend time with others who

have lost their loved ones. There will be a social in the parish hall following Mass.

St. Francis of Assisi

On Saturday, 18 November we had A Roast Beef

Dinner…we would like to thank the people who set-

up, those who did the prep work in the morning and

the Ladies of St. Francis of Assisi, the parishioners

who made all the pies.

We raised $1, 963.20 for the Building Fund!

Thank you to everyone for your support, the Dinner was a huge success.

Ladies Christmas Party St. Francis of Assisi Ladies Christmas Social will be held

Monday, December 4. Mass will be celebrated at

11:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Parish followed by a

Pot Luck Luncheon in the Parish Hall. Open to all
