Dear Parishioners: “For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.” At first hearing those words from today’s gospel seem to be unjust, but a closer analysis finds them to be a fact of nature. “Use it or lose it.” How many times have we heard those words, but they are true. All of us have been endowed with certain gifts and talents but if we don’t use them they will slowly disappear. In my youth I was very good at many things. I was an avid runner, skat-er, artist, and so on but when I entered the seminary I chose to leave all of those God-given abilities behind. Now I can do none of them as I once did. In truth, today’s readings are not unjust but rather a fact of life. Everyone knows that a muscle which is not exer-cised will become atrophied. So it is with our spiritual lives. If we do not use the gifts God has given us they will disap-pear. At this time we are rapidly ap-proaching the 100th Anniversary of our parish. It is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to reexamine the gifts that God has given to us and to ask, “What more can I give to the Lord?” I pray that we can all produce an abundant harvest for the one who has blessed us so abundantly. May our cele-bration bring us a new hope and vigor as we prepare to pass on the torch of faith to the next generation. Love and Prayers, Bro. John

Estimados Feligreses:

"Pues al que tiene se le dará y le sobrará; pero al que tiene poco, se le quitará aun eso po-co que tiene." Al oír esas palabras del evange-lio de hoy por primera vez parecen ser injustas, pero un análisis más detallado nos muestra que son como un hecho de la naturaleza. "Úselo o lo perderá." Cuántas veces hemos oído esas pala-bras, pero son ciertas. Todos nosotros hemos sido dotados de ciertos dones y talentos, pero si no los usamos, desaparecerán lentamente.

En mi juventud, era muy bueno en mu-chas cosas. Era un ávido corredor, patinador, artista, etc., pero cuando ingresé al seminario, decidí abandonar todas las habilidades que Dios me había concedido. Ahora no puedo hacer nin-guno de ellos como antes podía.

En verdad, las lecturas de hoy no son injustas sino más bien un hecho de la vida. To-do el mundo sabe que un músculo que no se ejercita se atrofiará. Lo mismo ocurre con nues-tras vidas espirituales. Si no usamos los dones que Dios nos ha dado, desaparecerán.

En este momento nos estamos acercando rápidamente al centésimo aniversario de nuestra parroquia. Es una oportunidad maravillosa para todos nosotros de reexaminar los dones que Dios nos ha dado y preguntarnos: "¿Qué más puedo dar al Señor?"

Mi oración es que todos podamos produ-cir una cosecha abundante para Él que nos ha bendecido tan abundantemente. Que nuestra celebración nos ofrezca una nueva esperanza y vigor mientras que nos preparemos para pasar la antorcha de la fe a la próxima generación.

SHARING OUR GIFTS Autumn is the season for harvesting and sharing the fruits of our labors. This week’s scriptures use images of the harvest, family life, pregnancy, and investment to describe the abundant harvest in the reign of God. We discover that sharing the gifts we have been given brings eternal rewards for everyone. In the Gospel parable a master entrusts his possessions to three servants before going on a journey. Each is given some talents. What they do with those talents determines what the master will do with them when he returns. How about us? What are we doing with our talents? How will our Master treat us when he returns?

Family Advent Celebration: Sunday, December 3 Celebración de Adviento en Familia

9:00am in Gym/Gimnasio: Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,6,B-1,B-2,R-3 12:00 noon in Gym/Gimnasio: Grades 7-1, 7-2 7:00pm in the Church/Iglesia: Grades 8-1, 8-2, 9-1

All Parents and children in our program must attend. We will be taking attendance.

* Come early to get a seat; there are only 400 seats in the Gym; all others will be sent to the Church hall. *We will be taking attendance. Children are to check-in with their teacher or the Director. Parents will sit with their chil-dren. *The children who will be reading should arrive 10 minutes ear-ly and will be seated on the stage. *If you have more that one child in the program and they attend classes at different times, please choose 1 time for you and all your children to attend. *You can attend any Mass with you children the weekend of Dec 3; the children will not be going to the Mass with their class. FOOD PANTRY - DESPENSA Our Pantry in running low, we are making every effort to prepare Thanksgiving Baskets for those in need of our Parish. We are in need of the following: Turkey, rice, canned milk, tea, coffee, cereal, jelly & peanut butter, sugar, flour, oil, and cookies only. You can bring them with you to Mass and leave them with the ushers or at the rectory. We want to thank all those who have helped us in the past to feed those less fortunate. COMPARTIENDO NUESTROS DONES El otoño es la estación de la cosecha y de compartir los fru-tos de nuestra labor. Las lecturas bíblicas de esta semana em-plean imágenes de la cosecha, la vida familiar, el embarazo y la inversión para describir la abundante cosecha en el Reino de Dios. Descubrimos que compartir los dones que hemos recibido trae recompensa eterna para todos. En la parábola del Evangelio un hombre le encarga sus bienes a tres servidores antes de partir de viaje. A cada uno le da dinero. Lo que hacen con ese dinero determina lo que el amo hará con ellos cuando regrese. ¿Y qué de nosotros? ¿Qué esta-mos haciendo con nuestros talentos? ¿Cómo nos tratará nues-tro Maestro cuando vuelva? TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE El 23 de noviembre de 1927, un pelotón de soldados condu-cía al jesuita mexicano Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez al paredón de fusilamiento. Uno de ellos le susurraba “perdóneme”. Mi-guel le respondió que no sólo lo perdonaba, sino que le daba las gracias por darle la oportunidad de dar testimonio de su fe de-rramando su sangre por Cristo. Días antes había sido arrestado y acusado de intento de asesinato contra el presidente mexicano Álvaro Obregón. En realidad su delito era el de bautizar niños, bendecir matrimonios, llevar la comunión a los enfermos y es-cuchar la confesión de los arrepentidos. Miguelito nació en 1891 y entró al noviciado jesuita en 1914, al mismo tiempo que el gobierno mexicano comenzaba una persecución en contra de la Iglesia. Debido a esta situación, Mi-guel tuvo que hacer su formación religiosa fuera de México. Apenas pudo, regresó a su nación como sacerdote e hizo su pas-toral a escondidas, sabiendo muy bien que podía ser martirizado. Miguel decía a sus amigos que al morir iría al cielo y si se encontraba con santos resecos, bailaría un jarabe tapatío hasta hacerles sonreír para Cristo Rey.
