Dear Brothers and Sisters: In a town of the Deep South there lived a woman of great faith. She was always praising God for the won-ders He performed in her life. A young fellow in the same town considered her to be a “Holy roller” or fanatic. One day while passing by her home he overheard her pouring out her heart in supplication before the Lord. He looked through her window and saw the woman on her knees in front of the fire place as she prayed for a slab of bacon and some loaves of bread to feed her son because they had nothing left to eat. He thought to himself, “This is my chance…” In no time he had purchased a slab of bacon and some bread from the town market and then returned to drop it down the woman’s chimney. Before long she was in the town plaza praising God for her latest miracle while onlookers listened to her testimony. The young man said, “I’ve got her now! God didn’t send that bacon and bread down your chimney, I did. What do you have to say for your-self now?” To which the woman replied, “Praise the Lord, for He’ll even use a devil like you to answer my prayers.” In today’s gospel Jesus per-formed the miracle of feeding thousands by multiplying bread. He doesn’t per-form the miracle from thin air but rather uses the humble rations placed at his dis-posal, “…give them some food your-selves.” Some say the true miracle that day was charity or sharing. Today, He once again multiplied not just bread but his Body and Blood so that we might become that miracle for the world. May we truly be companions (from the Latin “Cumpanis” or with bread) on our jour-ney to the kingdom of God. Love and Prayers, Bro. John

Notas del Pastor

Queridos hermanos,
