THE SANCTUARY CANDLE

This candle burns to remind us of the sacramental presence of Jesus Christ. For the Week of November 15th, the candle will burn in loving

memory of Thomas E. Curtis as requested by his daughter-in-law, Joan.

TO CONTACT FR. MATT: Please feel free to contact Fr. Matt with any questions or comments through email: [email protected]. You can always call the rectory at 610-543-0848 ext 126. Thank you!

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PAROCHIAL ADMINISTRATOR

My Dear Parishioners, In this month of November, please continue to pray for the souls of your loved ones who have died! We are one Church family composed of three parts: 1) The Church Militant/Pilgrim Church--all of us working our way through this world to our final goal, 2) The Church Suffering--the souls of our deceased love ones and friends who may be undergoing purification, and 3)The Church Triumphant--the saints now enjoying the eternal glory of heaven.

Financial Update I want to thank the representatives of our parish Finance Council for giving us an update on the fiscal health of St. Francis by speaking at every Mass. Last year was a tough year financially but we were able to get through it, all the while undertaking some major projects here on our property. We can and will keep moving forward. Again, thank you for your continued generosity. Below will you find how we did in October of this year compared to last, when it comes to weekly offerings.

October 2019 - $68,607.70 ++++++++

October 2020 - $66,177.38 (down $2430.32 over previous year)

Even though we were down a bit over the previous year, I still think we are so blessed considering we are still working our way through a global pandemic.

School Update As I mentioned last week at Mass, our school went into a 2-week Corona shut-down (with daily virtual learning) but we are ready to start back up again beginning this Monday (knock on wood). Temperatures are taken, masks are worn and the school is constantly being wiped down with sanitizer or UV light. Our principal, teachers, staff, parents and students have been amazing throughout this entire trial; pray they are able to come back and we can avoid any future shut-downs.

God bless all of you!

+ In Christ, Fr. Matthew J. Tralies

BREAKING OPEN THE WORD Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

November 22nd, 2020

Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17

“…I, myself, will look after and tend my sheep…. I will rescue them from every place...” No matter how you may feel in these challenging times, you can take comfort in the fact that the Lord will find you and save you. How will you give thanks for this promise of salvation?

1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28 “…the last enemy to be destroyed is death…in the end all will be subject to God.” We’re usually so focused on what comes next in our lives that we seldom take the long view. Will you take a few minutes this week to think about the end of times? How do you think that this contemplation will change how you act?

Matthew 25:31-46 “Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” It is easy to see the needs of our brothers and sisters. We have only to open our eyes. We can all reach out to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and welcome the stranger. What will you choose to do this week to earn your inheritance in the kingdom prepared for you?

ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY

The St. Vincent de Paul Society would like to thank everyone who has contributed during these difficult times. Because of these donations, we were able to help many who are struggling. Unfortunately, our treasury is very low at this time and we ask, if you are able, to make a donation of any amount. This would enable us to continue helping those in need. Anyone needing assistance with utility bills, or in need of food, please call the Rectory at 610-543-0848 and someone from the St. Vincent de Paul Society will call you back. Also, if you are in need of a ride to a doctor or test appointment, please call the Rectory and someone from the St. Vincent de Paul Society will call you back to coordinate a ride for you.

The Corner Brought to you by your Evangelization Team

“So be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and handed Himself over for us…”

~Ephesians 5:1-2 “Our identity isn’t based on our accomplishments or failings, what people think about us, or how we view ourselves in the mirror. Our identity is that we are the beloved children of a relentless Father who loves us unconditionally.”

Let us pray for those who SERVE and PROTECT… All-powerful and ever-living God, when Abraham left his native land and departed from his people, You kept him safe through all his journeys. Protect these soldiers. Be their constant companion and their strength in battle, their refuge in every adversity. Guide them, O Lord that they may return home in safety. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

ST. GERTRUDE THE GREAT PRAYER FOR THE POOR SOULS IN PURGATORY

St. Gertrude the Great is invoked often, for prayers for the poor souls in purgatory. She had a deep empathy for those souls in purgatory, and would ask God at each mass to have mercy on them. God would reply to St. Gertrude that He would use whatever was offered to Him for the faithful departed, according to His inclination to show pardon & mercy. St. Gertrude was a Benedictine and mystic writer. She had the gift of miracles and prophecy. Jesus revealed to her His infinite love, and asked her to spread it, with love, for the suffering and for sinners.
