$64,739.43
August, 2020

For July 2020, there was a loss of $11,411.45 over 2019 due
to the fact that 2020 had one less week in the month of July.
For August 2020, there was an increase of $13,699.65 over
2019 due to the fact that 2020 has one more week in the

Our Lady, Queen of Peace Presidium Legion of Mary
We invite you to become an auxiliary member of The
Legion of Mary. There are no meetings to attend and no
dues to pay. Auxiliary members commit to praying the
prayers of a small pamphlet (called the Tessera) each day as
well as five decades of the rosary. If you are already praying
the rosary, you need not add an additional five decades. The
prayers of the Tessera may be said together or divided
throughout the day. The Legion recommends that you offer
your prayers as an unreserved gift to Our Lady. If you are
interested in becoming an auxiliary member of the Legion of
Mary, please call Gus McClay at 610-544-7223 or contact
Joy Van Berg at 610-328-2095 or [email protected].
BREAKING OPEN THE WORD 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time ~ September 20th, 2020
Isaiah 55:6-9
“…Seek the LORD…. call Him while He is near...…”
It’s easy to text a friend. Tap a few keystrokes. Hit Send. A
flow of communication ensues. Have you ever thought how
much easier it is to commune with God? All you have to do
is think of the Lord. Zoom. You’re connected! How often in
a given day do you electronically communicate with friends?
How many times do you get in touch with God?
Philippians 1:20C-24, 27A
“…. Christ will be magnified in my body…. For to me, life
is Christ….”
Can you recall times when you feel insignificant? Do you
know why that is? Might it be your focus is solely on
yourself? What happens when you make a small but
significant shift in your viewpoint? It occurs when you focus
‘soul’-ly on Christ. How can you redirect your will so as to
be aligned with Jesus’ purpose for you? Do you feel like a
humble yet vital part of something far more significant-the
Mystical Body of Christ?
Matthew 20:1-16A
“…Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
Do you usually identify with the workers who put in the full
day’s work and felt short-changed? What do you think the
Lord was trying to impart with this parable? Aren’t you and
I really the ones who have arrived “late” to labor in the
“Lord’s vineyard”? Yet, the Almighty, in His infinite
generosity, still will reward us with eternal salvation just the
same.

Lord of Mercy, Prince of Peace,
This date, 9-11, carries a heavy burden of memory. This day
does not pass in the calendar without our remembering. We
remember images of death and destruction. Images that
human eyes were never meant to see. We remember words
our ears were never meant to hear, the tender last words of
husbands and wives who would never embrace again. We
imagine the feeling of emptiness in the arms of children who
at the end of the day could not find mom or dad for their
welcome home hug. We remember our own feelings of
emptiness as our sense of security, as our own confidence in
the predictable order of life and work was radically shaken.
We remember the heroism of the many that lost their lives in
saving others. We remember all those who suffered and
died, we grieve for them still, friends and strangers alike,
along with their families and friends. And it is right that it
should not pass from our memory. But today and in this
prayer, along with our remembrance of profound loss, it also
seems right that we give voice to our deep longing for peace,
and with this prayer, commit ourselves to those actions that
will draw us closer to our most ancient and most holy desire,
peace among all God’s children. Lord grant us peace. Amen. 4-175
