ELEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

Month of Compassion

Gracious Father,

your son Jesus Christ came from heaven

to be the true bread: evermore give us this bread,

that he may live in us and we in him;

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

"Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human" Henri Nouwen

THE PRAYERS OF THE CHURCH

We pray for Steve our Bishop and our Diocese; for Thabo our Metropolitan and the Anglican Church of Southern Africa; for Justin of Canterbury and the Anglican Communion.

PRAYER FOR THE WORLD

As we enter the month of compassion, help us Lord to be present to another’s pain, to bathe another’s wounds, hear another’s sadness, celebrate another’s success and allow the other’s story to change our own. THE WORK OF THE CHURCH

LIVING COMPASSIONATE LIVES

So much of Jesus' life is about healing: teaching and healing and showing people another way anchored in the love and action of God. How do we place this understanding at our centre, so it becomes the life we lead and share each day? Over the next four weeks we look what it is to live compassion, embrace healing and honour Holy becoming.

Practical compassion: The Power of Speech

In August we encourage you to examine how compassion can be lived out actively each day. This week we focus on how we use words...notice your words...is this a word of compassion or destruction, healing or harming? Ask God to guide the words you use in all your relationships.

THANK YOU

Thank you to all who helped with our family service and tea. It was a wonderful celebration. Izzy and Tanele share thanks for gifts, kind words and their wonderful send off. We welcome Fabian Oliver who started with us on Wednesday as our new Youth Pastor. May St Francis be a place of love, laughter and learning in the grace of God.

GOLF DAY 25 OCTOBER 2018

The Annual Golf Day, our major fundraising drive for our social outreach programmes, takes place at Parkview Golf Club. Please invite all golfers among your friends, family and neighbours to enter this fun-filled day. Entry forms available from the Church Office.
