What’s New at SFX?
As I write this article we hope to put in for our certificate of occupancy for the new Narthex this
week so we should have an exact date for you this weekend as to when we can move into the Narthex.
A few updates on our building and repairs. Our last step in the Narthex project will be landscaping
the area between the Narthex and Hanover Square. We are going to build the landscaping around the
new look of our campus – removing some old trees that block the view and enhancing the area with
irrigation, sod, trees and plants. This will cost more than we had budgeted so if you would like to con-
tribute to the new landscaping please make a check to SFX and memo it “landscaping.”
Hopefully as we gather this weekend the windows renovation will all be complete. Over the course
of 51 years of the present church building rain water and salty air had compromised the framing
around our central Marian window and the protection around the side windows. The workers said we
were fortunate that none of the panels of the choir loft window blew out during a wind or rain storm!
If you would like to see the pictures of the window work you can go to our website
(xavierbrunswick.org) or our Facebook page (St Francis Xavier Catholic Parish, Brunswick GA). All
of our windows have been repaired, reloaded, the wood resealed, covered with a storm resistant tem-
pered glass and sealed with aluminum frame. Our windows are set for the next 75 years! This was not
part of our Forward With Faith project but needed to be done and will complement the new Narthex
very nicely. If you would like to contribute to the windows please memo your check “window pro-
ject.”
Please come join us in the church this First Friday between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm for Exposition of
the Blessed Sacrament. This is a time of quiet prayer, reading and meditation in the presence of our
Eucharistic Lord. If you have never experienced it come and try it. It is life changing! Although we
have sign-ups to make sure that each hour is covered you may come at any time.
We are hosting the Community Seder Meal in Xavier Hall on April 11 at 6:00 pm. Please contact
our office for ticket information.
Ash Wednesday is approaching! Wednesday March 6 begins our Lenten journey! See page 6 for

Men’s Discernment Groups: Deacon Robert will be leading “The Melchiz-edek Project” during the Lenten Season, for young single men. There will be two groups: (1) High School, grades 9th-12th and (2) Young Men, ages 18-40. We will meet for 7 weeks throughout Lent. The High School group will meet on Sundays following the 8:30am Mass (approx. 9:45pm) in the St. Joseph Room (Parish Hall). The Young Men’s group will meet on Wednesdays at 5:30pm in St. Anne Room (Parish Hall). Food will be pro-vided for each group. What’s free? Food and Discernment Materials (To Save A Thousand Souls). What is it? It is a time for Catholic men to pray about their lives, listen for God’s voice, and get serious about answering His personal call to follow Him, in whatever vocation that He is calling you too. What would we do? Share a meal together, read Fr. Brett Brannen’s book on discernment, and discuss the vocation / call to the Priesthood. Who is it for? Young, single men who are interested in discerning God’s will for them, whatever it may be. Dates: Group #1: (Sundays) March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 & April 7, 14 Group #2: (Wednesdays) March 13, 20, 27 & April 3, 10, 17, 24
