Muy queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo: Hace casi 3,500 años en Egipto el pueblo de Israel celebró en sus casas la fiesta de la Pascua. ¿Qué significa esta ceremonia? Moisés en el libro del Éxodo, nos lo explica: “Y cuando sus hijos les pregunten: ‘¿Qué significa esta ceremonia?’, ustedes deberán contestar: ‘Este animal se sacrifica en la Pascua, en honor del Señor. Cuando él hirió de muerte a los egipcios, pasó de largo por las casas de los israelitas que vivían en Egipto, y así salvó a nuestras familias.’” (Éxodo 12, 26-27)
A poco menos de 2000 años, en Jerusalén, Jesús, reunido con sus discípulos en una casa… “[…] tomó en sus manos el pan y, habiendo pronunciado la bendición, lo partió y se lo dio a ellos, diciendo: —Tomen, esto es mi cuerpo. Luego tomó en sus manos una copa y, habiendo dado gracias a Dios, se la pasó a ellos, y todos bebieron. Les dijo: —Esto es mi sangre, con la que se confirma la alianza, sangre que es derramada en favor de muchos.” (Marcos 14, 22-24)
Hoy, celebraremos estas fiestas de Pascua “en las que se inmola el verdadero Cordero, cuya sangre consagra las puertas de los fieles” desde nuestras casas. Desde nuestros hogares celebraremos con gozo la salvación y la nueva vida que Dios nos ofrece en su hijo Jesucristo. Desde nuestros hogares, habremos de reflexionar sobre las palabras de san Pablo: “[Hermanos:] Puesto que han resucitado con Cristo, busquen los bienes de arriba, donde está Cristo, sentado a la derecha de Dios. Pongan todo el corazón en los bienes del cielo, no en los de la tierra, porque han muerto y su vida está escondida con Cristo en Dios.” (Col 3, 1-4)
Y así, en medio de un acontecimiento histórico para todos nosotros, hoy la luz de Cristo brilla para todos sus fieles en el momento en que más lo necesitamos: ¡Y brilla con intensidad!... ¡Y disipa las tinieblas!... ¡Y nos trae salvación! Y ahora podemos volver a ver con claridad, y distinguir lo que es verdaderamente importante en nuestra vida. Podemos nuevamente ponernos de pie y seguir adelante, recordando que quien camina iluminado por Cristo jamás caminará a oscuras, pues es Él la luz que nos ilumina y le da sentido a nuestra vida. Los sacerdotes y todo el personal que labora en esta parroquia, les deseamos que la LUZ de CRISTO BRILLE en USTEDES en estas fiestas de Pascua. Estamos seguros que este tiempo de preparación ha cambiado de manera importante su manera de pensar y de ver el mundo. Esperamos verlos pronto nuevamente para juntos continuar celebrando la Eucaristía: sacramento de amor y unidad entre todos nosotros. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Almost 3,500 years ago in Egypt the people of Israel celebrated the Passover Meal in their homes. What does this ceremony mean? Moses in the book of Exodus explains it: “When your children ask you, ‘What does this rite of yours mean?’ you will reply, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice for the LORD, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt; when he struck down the Egyptians, he delivered our houses.’” (Exodus 12, 26-27)
And a little less than 2000 years ago, Jesus gathered with his disciples in a house… “[…] While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many.” (Mark 14, 22-24)
Soon we will be celebrating the Feast of Passover “in which the true Lamb is sacrificed and whose blood consecrates the doors of the faithful.” This time from our home we will be celebrating with joy our salvation and the new life given to us by God thru Jesus Christ. Gathered with our families at home, let us meditate on St. Paul’s words: “[Brothers and sisters:] If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory..” (Col 3, 1-4)
Thus, in the midst of this historic event, the light of Christ shines for all the faithful at times when we need it the most. And it shines forth with great splendor!... And it destroys darkness!... And it brings us salvation! And now we can see clearly and realize what is truly important in our lives. We are able to stand up again and continue our journey remembering that those who walk guided by Christ will never walk in darkness, because it is He who enlightens us and gives meaning to our lives. On behalf of all priests and the staff at St. Gall, we pray that CHRIST’S LIGHT may SHINE on all of YOU during this Easter season. We are certain that your way of thinking and seeing the world around you has changed during this time of preparation. We hope to see you again soon and celebrate together the Eucharist: The sacrament of Love and Unity. May Christ, Light of the World, guide you always on the path of truth, ~ Rev.
