INSURANCE AGENT’S MESSAGE
Brothers, Ladies, and families, The mission of the Knights of Columbus today remains the same as when it was founded in 1882: to protect Catholic families financially and to help strengthen the Catholic faith of our members. While the current medical, social and economic issues we face are unsettling, it’s not the first time we have risen to meet such challenges. Our Order has stood strong through past crises such as the Spanish flu in 1918, the Great Depression and the financial crisis of 2008. Just as we stood together during those times, we stand ready in our own difficult times to provide life insurance, annuities, long term care and disability insurance. Knights of Columbus Insurance agents are fully equipped and eager to help you understand how the current climate may affect your personal finances and how our products can help. Our agents can meet with you in person, talk to you over the phone (when appropriate) or through a virtual meeting using Skype or similar software. Agents are ready to answer questions, assist with service-related issues and help show you how you can reduce your financial risk. As the Knights of Columbus turns 138 years old, it is an opportune moment to thank our founder, Father Michael McGivney, for his foresight in founding an Order that consistently provides reliable financial protection for Catholic families. You do not face the current challenges alone. Our commitment to helping you and your family remains strong. Vivat Jesus! Matthew Seltzer (575)936-7181 [email protected]

MICHAEL J. O’CONNOR SUPREME SECRETARY
March 31, 2020 Worthy State Deputy, During these uncertain times we hope this finds you and your family well. Because of the current issues with the Coronavirus pandemic, we are sensitive to the impact that this has had on our councils. As a result, the Supreme Council has decided to waive the suspension process for the January 1, 2020 assessments. No council will be suspended on April 10, 2020. Additionally, the Supreme Council will not levy Per Capita, Catholic Advertising, or Culture of Life assessments on July 1, 2020, for the second half of the calendar year. Please know that this message will be conveyed to financial secretaries, but we would also ask for your assistance in getting this message to the state family and your council leadership as well. We have taken measures to make sure councils and state personnel do not receive additional delinquent notifications and reports. However, if you receive any contrary feedback, please let me know so that I can make sure your councils can concentrate on the more pressing matters of COVID-19. Do not hesitate to contact my office with any questions or concerns. We hope that you remain safe and healthy.
Fraternally,
Michael J. O’Connor Supreme Secretary

Letter from NM State Deputy
Brothers All, I received a call from Past State Deputy Brother Joe Pozzi. In our conversation, he mentioned that we are advised to sing 'Mary had a little lamb' as we wash our hands and it would take 20 seconds. He said that we should recite the Our Father and that would give us a few more seconds to wash our hands. With that in mind, I suggested that we recite the Our Father as we wash our hands and ask God to remove this virus from the world. It seems that we depend on science to take care of the problem. We forget that science is dependent on God to provide the answers. As we wash our hands and pray the Lord's Prayer, we implore God's guidance for those who are conducting the coronavirus research, looking for a cure. Gilbert R. Perez

Photos submitted to Supreme to be considered for the Columbian Magazine: Worthy District Deputy Kerry Morley requested photos from the Fishing Day that showed Brother Knights dressed in Knights of Columbus clothing. The photos provided to him are shown below. About 100 youngsters and 75 adult supervisors were at the event. Local businesses donated over $1000 in cash and prizes, which were used to support the event. There were front-page photos that appeared in the LC Sun-News and the LC Bulletin. Thanks to the 20 Knights, 6 Ladies, and others who helped with the event. We hope to see everybody there again next January.

Brothers and Sisters find solace in the Poppy Fields of North-Eastern Las Cruces During this time of isolation, many of us have found peace in the poppy fields, which are unusually beautiful this year. God has sent a plentiful rainfall this spring and the poppies are gorgeous! They are located a little south of Highway 70 on Baylor Canyon Road.
