ST. JAMES THE APOSTLE CATHOLIC CHURCH MISSION STATEMENT

Rooted in the Catholic Faith, in order to build up the reign of God, the mission of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church is to live out the message of Jesus Christ by worshipping God by serving the world.

GRACE AND ETERNAL LIFE Moses is a man after our own hearts, for haven’t we all dealt with more than our share of stiff-necked people? Indeed, haven’t we all gotten a little stiff-necked ourselves at times? Complaining . . . impa-tient . . . quick to anger. How lucky for Moses—how lucky for all of us—that God is exactly the opposite! And we don’t even have to guess about it. The Lord tells us so directly. Accordingly, Moses does what we all need to do. Even with the tablets in hand, he bows down and asks for God’s forgiveness and grace. Encouraging us to live together in peace—and in God’s favor—the Apostle Paul knows all about this grace, joyfully invoking Christ’s grace on us along with God’s love and the Holy Spirit’s. “Rejoice,” he says. And when it comes to rejoicing, John offers us the gladdest words of all: the assurance of eternal life through Jesus. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Why Register In the Church Many people attend Mass here at our church, but are not registered parishioners. It is important to be registered and use your offering envelopes so that if you ever request a letter, whether it’s for being a godparent, sponsor, marriage, confirmation, tax statement or any other purpose, we can check our records and see that you attend Mass here. This would also benefit you if you would like to have your child enrolled in next year’s Religious Education Program. If you are not registered in the church, we cannot issue or sign any type of letter stating that you are a member of the parish, even if you attend Mass here. If you would like to register and receive offering enve-lopes, you must complete our registration form. You may also use the parishioner’s updated form (green) located on the church lobby shelf for any changes to your address, email or phone number. If you have any questions, please contact the parish office at 702-648-6606.

PHASE – 2 RE-OPENING

GUIDELINES AND LIMITATIONS – in accordance with the Diocese of Las Vegas and those issued by the Governor of Nevada.

Bishop George Leo Thomas has continued the dispensation from the Obligation to attend Sunday Mass to remain in effect until further notice. We continue to encourage those with vulnerable health con-ditions, the elderly or those who are uncomfortable to continue to participate via live streaming. We will contin-ue our live streaming of the 10am mass.

Re-opening for St. James the Apostle will begin, on Sun-day, June 7, 2020. We are limited to 50 participants per mass, which includes Priest, staff, and volunteers. To accomplish this, we are adding a third mass. The mass schedule is 8am, 10am and 12pm Parishioners must contact the office, via phone or email to reserve a seat for the mass by providing your name, contact information, which mass you would like to attend, and how many people will be attending with them. Pa-rishioners must make a reservation each week. There will be NO standing reservations. If a parishioner’s mass choice is full, they will be given the option to attend one of the other masses if there is space available. Once a mass reaches full capacity, it is closed for that Sunday. A sign will be posted outside the main door in-dicating: The Church has reached full capacity in accord-ance with Government guidelines and Mass has com-menced Upon Entering: Everyone will need to sanitize their hands prior to entering the sanctuary. Temperature screening may be done at that time. We will use only the main entrance. The north door (facing Mario’s) will remain locked. Parishioners may not enter through that door, exit only. Parishioners will be checked at our main entrance to en-sure that those who did reserve a seat, have their seat. YOU MUST ARRIVE ON TIME The doors to the sanctuary will remain open during mass but the entrance door will be closed when mass com-mences. Once Mass begins, there will not be any late entries and a sign will be placed on the door ad-vising the late comers. We asked you to remain seat-ed during the duration of the Mass. Seating: Seating will be available based on social distancing The entry door will open 15 minutes prior to the start of mass. If you arrive earlier than the 15 minutes, you are encouraged to wait in your vehicles until the doors open.

All attendees over the age of 10 are to wear a mask. Par-ents with children under the age of 10 are to use their discretion regarding the use of masks for their minor chil-dren under 10.

We encourage you to take care of your bathroom needs before coming to Mass. However, if it is an emergency please know that the restrooms will be limited to two peo-ple at a time, to continue social distancing.

Mass: There WILL NOT be a processional or recessional. The priest and deacons will enter from and exit to the Sacristy Parishioners will remain standing and Communion will be brought to you. Your face covering must remain in place until after you say Amen. Parishioners are to receive Communion in the hands only during this health emergency Offertory collection baskets will be placed near the en-trance doors There will be no exchange of the Sign of Peace Exiting: After the final blessing, parishioners will be asked to be seated and to follow the instructions of the Welcomers, who will dismiss parishioners by rows Parishioners are encouraged to go directly to their vehi-cles, this will assist in allowing time to sanitize the church prior to the next mass Additional Protocols There will be a table in the gathering space with hand sanitizer No bulletins will be handed out If you are uncomfortable in following these guidelines, we encourage you to continue to participate via live stream of our mass on facebook.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times.

From me to me, photos may be taken at various church and/or ministerial events given at St. James and may ap-pear on our social media. If you do not want your photo to appear on St. James’ social media, please inform the parish office.
