March 16, 2014 – Second Sunday of Lent Matthew 17:1-9
Throughout the Gospels we hear the question “Who is Jesus?” In the transfiguration, we hear the clear answer. “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased”. Listen to him!” These are exactly the
same words as the voice from heaven uses at the baptism of Jesus (Matt 3: 17). Both times the voice from heaven comes at a critical turning point in the life of Jesus to reassure him about the course of action he has chosen. In this moment Jesus has the value and purpose of his life confirmed and he is reassured that he is loved and will be empowered by the Spirit, which is the presence of God. We spend so much of our time trying to make ourselves better and make changes where it’s needed but how often do we take the time to go to the top of the mountain and look at our lives and allow our heavenly father to tell us “This is my child, whom I love and with whom I am well pleased”. We all need to hear it; we all need to feel it, we all need to
believe it. God Bless you in this Lenten Season,
Bob Bob Bob Bob

Words of ChristWords of ChristWords of ChristWords of Christ
On Good Friday each year, the parish
marks the 3 hours Jesus hung on the
cross (noon to 3:00) through prayer and reflection in the
church. From 1:00 to 2:00 we remember and reflect on the 7 last
words recorded in scripture of Jesus from the cross.
The Liturgy Planning Committee is seeking volunteers to provide
these reflections on Friday April 18. The Last Seven Words (verses)
are below. The Words are introduced by a narrator and they
are based completely on what the Holy Spirit reveals to the
presenter after prayer and study of the passage. No required length
or time.
If you are interested in participating in this liturgy, please contact
Vern Howard @ [email protected] or 925-895-9597.
