A note form the Parish Council Chairman,
Karmen A. Santourian
In our Parish we come together for so many occasions. In my view the annual Festival/Bazaar is one of the most joyful. For many months I have watched expert volunteers lovingly create delicious food and baked goods. Others have organized service to the community with events to promote good health. Skillful collaborators have designed opportunities to learn about our rich cultural heritage with the Alex and Marie Manoogian Museum and the beautiful sanctuary tours, Armenian language lessons, Fine Arts show, and so much more. The variety of entertainment, dining, dancing, boutique and food shopping continues to dazzle. On behalf of our Parish, sincere gratitude is offered to Festival Chairman John Yavruian, and his entire team for planning such extraordinary festivities. I also thank our devoted parishioners and guests for their participation and hope that you all enjoy each wonderful moment.
Pari Desank!
Dear Parishioners,
As Armenians, we are proud of our heritage. Our ancestral home along the silk route of the Caucus Mountains, taught us to be welcoming of others. Visitors passed through our lands and we learned how to be gracious hosts. Hospitality infused with a deep love of God are traits that rooted themselves into our national character.
While traders no longer travel the roads of Armenia, tourists do. Our Church’s Festival “Armenia: The Land of Noah’s Ark” celebrates our culture and seeks to shine a light on it for others to see. Bring a friend, a neighbor, coworkers and let them become a tourist for a day.
The essence of hospitality is love. For Armenians, that love is embodied in the food we eat. For our community, the Women’s Guild volunteers have been the yeast that causes that love to expand. The Men’s Society, building their own tradition, adds a unique seasoning to the dough. Music and singing expand the soul and are an integral part of what makes us different. This year the Komitas Choir’s new CD will be played in the Sanctuary during the Festival, thanks to the dedicated work of Deacon Rubik.
Take a moment to see what is new in this year’s expanded Festival Brochure. Armenian artists, authors and crafts are featured. Handmade items from Armenia have been acquired and are available for sale. Plan ahead to shop for gifts for the holidays.
We stand in line behind those who have come before us, building on their experiences and accomplishments. Mark your calendars! Become a tour guide for a friend. Join us in celebrating the cultural richness of our heritage.
Sincerely,
John Yavruian, Festival Chairman

GOOD SAMARITAN A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan. She asked the class, "If you saw a person lying on the roadside, all wounded and bleeding, what would you do?”
A thoughtful little girl broke the hushed silence, "I think I'd throw up."
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible - Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the chapter.
Little Rick was excited about the task - but he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line.
On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Ricky was so nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to know."
