Brian Hutcherson’s Ordination
On April 16, 2016 our beloved Brian was Or-
dained into the Sacred Order of Deacons at Christ
Church in Glen Allen, Virginia. It was a beautiful
service conducted by both the Rt. Rev. Shannon
Johnston of our diocese, and the Rt. Rev. Herman
Hollerith IV of the Diocese of Southern Virginia.
There were a total of 9 persons in the inaugural class
of the new Deacon program.
Brian sent a note of thanks to the church.
Dear St. John's
Thank you so much for all your support leading
to my ordination as a deacon. It has been a long five
year journey; and you have been with me every step
of the way.
Also, thank you so much for pay-
ing for my Deacon School tuition. I
owe a lot to the vestry and ECW for
their faith in me.
Thank you for the ordination gifts.
The green stole, white stole, and
communion kit will be cherished for a
long time.
I am so proud to hear that Kevin
is serving you faithfully and leading
Morning Prayer.
I miss you all so much. Please give my Godson
Jamond a hug for me.
When you become clergy you have to give up
your church membership. However, I will always
consider St. John's to be home.
God bless you all,
Brian

Senior Warden’s Report Bettie Hutcherson
I have never been prouder of our church family than I have been in the last few months. Each and every one of you have stepped up to the plate and kept our church running smoothly in this transitional period. We have so many caring parishioners that are willing to volunteer so much of their time for the greater good of our church. St John the Baptist has always come alive when circumstances interrupt our normal routine. A “very special” thank you to Kevin Hensley for coming to our rescue and leading us in Morning Prayer so many times. There are so many of us that truly love the Morning Prayer service. Kevin has done such a wonderful job in pre-paring those beautiful sermons for us. It is such a blessing to see a church where everyone has a gift and uses it to spread God’s love, not only in our church, but in our community and the world. When speaking to others about our church, I have often told people St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Ivy may be small in numbers, but we are defi-nitely “mighty” in our actions. Again, thank you for your continued support of our beloved church. Bettie

*Thank Sonny for keeping the cool air going at the Church. This has been quite a job.

it fly over our loved ones buried at St. John's, let me know.
*Jeff and I will be working on a project, trying to get a good record for the church for our loved ones.
*If you need burial plots please see or call Jeff Sprouse at 434- 531-4673.

The only things we need now is new hangings. Our hangings have become extremely rotten and pulling apart. We still use them with tons of love. We will, in the future, need to purchase one set at a time. God will help us to provide the way he always does, with many blessings he gives us at St. John's. Thanks to everyone who works so hard to keep our Church going from Sunday to Sunday and to you who come to our services. God Bless each of you.
