From Our Pastor

This weekend we celebrate Pentecost Sunday which is the birthday of the Church. The Apostles had already received the Holy Spirit when our Lord first appeared to them after his Resurrection. (Jn 20:22) But on Pentecost Day the decent of the Holy Spirit was a public manifestation. It was the chosen day for the Apostles to begin their public ministry. From that day forward they were dedicated to one purpose and to one purpose only, to bring the Good News, the Gospel of the Lord Jesus, to the world. Today we honor our students as we celebrate the Senior Mass. We give thanks today for the many talents and gifts which our Lord has given to these soon-to-be-graduates. As they go forth to begin a new chapter in their lives, we pray that the Lord will keep them safe and faithful to his teachings. I am proud of each and every one of you! If there are any students who would like to be an altar server, please plan on attending the server training after the 10:00 Mass on Sunday, May 27th. This is for any student who will be in the 5th, 6th grade or older when school starts again. I look forward to continuing our tradition of having excellent altar servers! Vacation Bible School is quickly approaching. It will be held June 4th -8th from 6:00 p.m.-- 8:00 p.m. at St. John Center. Children ages 4 through 4th grade are invited to attend and older children may come and help with the younger children. Our theme this year is “The Mystery of the Mass”. As secret agents the children will discover the meaning behind the different parts of the Mass and why it is at the core of our faith.
