St. John’s Fall Dinner Sunday, October 13th, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm Turkey, Ham and all the fixings with Homemade Pies for Dessert! Men, Women, Kids - We need everyone involved for this event to be a success. If you haven’t already done so, please sign-up to help or donate items needed for the dinner, and remember the Country Store and the Mini-Rae need items also! Altar Server Training: For all current servers and any new ones who would like to be an altar server, there will be training with Fr. Jeimmediately following the Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 6. Any child who is baptized, 6 years old and up, and is able to behave and follow instructions is eligible to become a server. Also, altar serving is not limited only to children and teenagers, adults are welcomed too. October is the month of the Rosary and this Monday is the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. This feast commemorates the battle of Lepanto, which took place on October 7, 1571, wherein the Turkish Armada invading Europe was defeated by a much smaller fleet of Catholics, comprised of Spain, Genoa and the Papal States. Pope St. Pius V called upon all of Europe to pray the Rosary and plead with Our Lady for victory. She answered their prayers. The Catholic force soundly defeated the Muslim invaders and preserved Christendom. This miraculous triumph broke the back of the Muslim domination of the Mediterranean, and with subsequent victories in Spain, halted Islam’s advance into Europe, thus preserving the Catholic Faith. We still need to call upon Mary’s powerful intercession. The forces of evil are waging an all-out assault upon Christianity today. Hatred of Christians seems to be the only socially tolerable prejudice in our modern culture. This shouldn’t be surprising since a quarter of our nation’s population has become atheist. Abortion, infanticide, homosexual acts, transgenderism, contraception, fornication, pornography and so many other sins are now considered to be good by those rebelling against God. For many, it is far more acceptable to save a turtle than to save an unborn baby. Even within the Church, 70% of Catholics don’t believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. And, sadly, those who hold fast to traditional Christian morals are falsely labeled as bigots, racists and homophobes. So, what does all this mean? It means we are at war on a spiritual and moral level, whether we want to be or not. We have a real enemy, the devil, and an awful lot of people serve him. Regrettably, many Catholics are led by the demon when they reject what Christ teaches through His Church. We need to invoke the Blessed Virgin Mary, who crushes the head of the serpent, and ask her to prevail over this influx of evil. Happily, many parishioners are answering Our Lady’s call to arms. A few thousand Rosaries for Grafton have already been prayed. Absolutely awesome! Let us keep fighting the good fight of faith and never give up! Tenacity is the key to our spiritual success. Jesus said, “The one who perseveres to the end will be saved” (Mk 13:13). Well, then, onward Christian soldiers! To Victory through Jesus and Mary! May God be praised and may you be blessed! Mission Statement To walk by Faith, to be known by Love and to be a Beacon of Light in our community. We are asking that you pray 3 Hail Marys after each Mass for people to come back to their Catholic Faith. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eucharist Schedule Saturday:5:00 pm - St. John’s, Grafton Sunday: 7:30 am - Sacred Heart, Oakwood 9:30 am - St. John’s, Grafton Reconciliation Saturday: 4:00 - 4:45 pm - St. John’s Sunday: 7:10 am - Sacred Heart, Oakwood 9:00 - 9:15 am - St. John’s ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Parish Office: 352-1648 Fr. Stewardship Moment - “For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7 Many of us compartmentalize our Faith, we bring it out only when we attend Mass or when we attend a parish event. Being a good steward requires discipline and striving to put God first in everything, all the time. The next time you are at a neighborhood party, at work or out shopping, would your actions signal to others that you are a good and faithful servant of our Lord?

Weekly Prayer of the Faithful Petitions - That our actions and words reflect our love for God every day.

Fatima Public Square Rosary Crusade will be at St. John’s on Saturday, Oct. 12th at 12:00 noon. This rosary Rally will be held in conjunction with thousands of other rallies held all across our country in honor of Our Blessed Mother and to commemorate her appearance at Fatima and to pray that our country will recognize and appreciate Christian values.

LIFE CHAIN: On Sunday, October 6, many thousands of Christians will stand on over 2000 miles of sidewalks and roads in over 1000 places throughout the United States praying for an end to abortion. In Walsh County, there will be Life Chains in both Park River and in Grafton. Signs with prayers and silent hymns on the back will be offered beginning at 2pm; at 3 pm there will be refreshments. Come share this time of prayer, even if only for 15 minutes. In Park River, all are invited to come to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Life Chain on Hwy 17 opposite the church. In Grafton, participants in the Life Chain will gather at the Evangelical Free Church, then standing along Hwy 17 near the church.

Haiti Trip - If you are interested in going to Haiti, please letthe parish office know by Tuesday, October 8th. Thank you.
