GOLF TOURNAMENT - APRIL 18 FRIENDLY HILLS GOLF COURSE

We extend a special invitation to all our parishioners and friends who are golfers (women & men) to play in our upcoming

tournament on April 18th at the beautiful Friendly Hills Country Club in Whittier. Proceeds from this event will go to the Rebuild Fund. This can only be a success if we get the parish to support the event. Wouldn’t it be great to show Msgr. Tim that we care about his hard work to get a church built by present-ing him with a “huge check” as a result of a success-ful tournament? If you are not a golfer but still wish to support the event, please stop by the sign-up booth after the Sunday morning Masses for further information or call Dom (562) 693-8895 or Al (626) 336-0846. We are still in need of donations that can be used for our planned Silent Auction and Raffle. Please call Sandy (562) 693-8895 or Sandi (626) 336-0846 if you wish to donate items. The fantastic 5 Station Buffet dinner that follows the tournament is open to everyone. The cost for non-golfers is $45.00 per person . Seating will be lim-ited for the non-golfers so please sign up early. We did sell out for the dinner when we had our last tour-nament in 2012. You won’t regret being part of the event!!

Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord PAGE 5

YEAR OF MERCY December 8, 2015 - November 20, 2016

March 20, 2016 Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion

Misericordiae Vultus: The Face of Mercy is Pope Francis’ official decree announcing this Jubilee Year of Mercy. But Francis had already declared that Je-sus “has shown the face of God’s mercy” back in 2013 on his first Palm Sunday as pope. Francis de-scribed Luke’s account of Jesus’ entrance into Jeru-salem: “Crowds, celebrating, praise, blessing, peace: joy fills the air. Jesus has awakened great hopes, es-pecially in the hearts of the simple, the humble, the poor, the forgotten, those who do not matter in the eyes of the world. He understands human sufferings . . . has bent down to heal body and soul.” Entering Jerusalem, Jesus looks at all of us with love, Francis continued, at our sicknesses and sins. “A beautiful scene, full of light—the light of the love of Je-sus” (Pope Francis, Palm Sunday homily, March 24, 2013). May this Jubilee Year’s Holy Week and Trid-uum make us Jesus’ own light-bearers and love-givers to all who long to see the Face of Mercy.
