Families Journeyed with Mary and Her Son Jesus

On October 18th St. John’s Religious Education children, grades 1st – 8th and their families shared an evening of Faith and Prayer together. The families learned how to pray the rosary, learned the meaning of the liturgical col-ors and the names of the articles used during Mass. Con-firmation class joined us by performing a skit about Mary and Jesus. We all gathered around the church to create a beautiful live Rosary and prayed one decade of the ro-sary. We ended our evening with the Confirmation class serving the families a spaghetti dinner with the help of parishioners from our parish who cooked the dinner. Thank you to all who helped with putting together the

family gathering.

KINGSHIP

The book of Samuel recounts for us today the anoint-ing of David as king of Israel. It was the elders of Israel who declared David king that day, but it was God who called David to shepherd Israel. Thus mandated by the citizens of his kingdom and by his God, David took his place in a long line of kings. The apostle Paul speaks to us of kingship as well, but on a much higher plane: the kingship of Jesus our Lord. As great as David was, he and all earthly monarchs who came before and after him in their kingdoms around the world are minor kings by comparison to the true King. And lastly, we hear the story of that true King in perhaps his weakest moment: near death, hanging on a cross, taunted by a common criminal and by the world at large. ~Father George

Generous donations have come in for the turkeys and all the sides! We’ll be putting to-gether the baskets on Sunday, November 20th after 11am Mass. Come out to support this event and help give back to our community members in need!
