WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS

BAKE SALE: St. Joseph Women's Club will have their first of two bake sales for the year of 2018 on the weekend of May 5th and 6th. We are requesting that all women of the parish help us out by baking something. So many people now have cell phones and no land lines and we have lost contact with you. You may be getting a call, but if not, please don't forget about us, we need your help. We have so many wonderful bakers and our bake sale is always a huge success with your help. With our funds we are able to minister to the needs of the altar and many other min-istries in our parish and community. God bless all in our parish.

THE WOMEN’S CLUB will not meet the months of May, June and July. We hope you have a great summer. We will have our kick off luncheon at Demo's in August. For more information or any questions about the bake sale, please call Carole Mick at 615-868-9871.

SCHOOL NEWS!

Meet our new members!!

!!

Jennifer Hughes attended RCIA sessions two years ago but it wasn’t until this year’s Easter Vigil that she received her Initiation Sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation and Eu-charist. Jennifer grew up in the Nashville area and church was a large part of her life. During history classes, in school, she was introduced to the Catholic Church from a his-torical perspective. As she matured, the desire for more in her spiritual life grew. Through continued reading and a little help from Google, Jennifer found St. Joseph Church and entered our RCIA process to continue her faith journey. Jennifer and her husband, Chad, have 5 children and 2 grandchildren. She is a stay at home mom and home schools the three younger children, who also attend St. Joseph Religious Ed on Sunday mornings. In her spare time, Jennifer continues to enjoy reading and to coach her daughter’s softball team. Mary Lou Spurlock is Jennifer’s godparent and sponsor. !

Reagan Marquez is the newest member of this year’s RCIA class. He was baptized in the Catholic faith as a young child in Micronesia. He came to the U.S. 13 years ago with his wife. They have 5 children, 4 daughters and 1 son, who attend St. Joseph Religious Ed on Sunday mornings. His wife, Jayleen and oldest daughter, LaTonya entered the RCIA pro-cess last fall to complete their initiation sacraments. At the urging of his wife and daughter and after adjusting his work schedule, Reagan was able to join in this year’s RCIA class so that they could enter into full communion in the Catholic Church as a family. Reagan is a cook by profession and he enjoys spending his spare time playing with his children. Basket-ball is his sport. He enjoys the NBA and is a fan of the San Antonio Spurs. Reagan is ac-companied on his faith journey by his sponsor, Al Fleck.!

PRAYER WARRIORS NEEDED !MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL & ST. BRUNO NIGHT WARRIORS

LET’S JOIN FORCES NOW AND STORM HEAVEN.!TOGETHER WE MUST DO IT.!

Michael the Archangel Prayer Warriors (MAPW) are just ordinary Catholics trying to fight an extraordinary enemy (Satan) through prayer, fasting, frequent reception of the Sacraments and all the ordinary and extraordinary holy things done by Christians everywhere who are attempting to practice their faith. We serve God according to our vocation in life, but prayer and fasting are our main weapons.!! 1. “Jesus seems to…announce a mysterious law of the world of prayer, namely, that God, by His own decree, has somehow placed His power in the hands of persons who intercede, in such a way that unless they intercede, His power is withheld. This is the great attraction of the prayer of intercession. As you practice it, you get a sense of the tremendous power there is in prayer and having sensed this power, you will never give up prayer. Fr. Anthony de Mello, S.J., Sadhana A Way to God !! 2. Our MAPW are devoted to spending a minimum of one hour each day in solitude and silence in some quiet place im-mersed in prayer and meditation. The Holy Rosary is the weapon of choice. The practice of praying the Liturgy of the Hours is also highly encouraged as is any Lectio Divina. Be still before the Lord!and wait patiently for him. Ps 37:7 ! !! The practice of praying in a place which is quiet and away from the noisy world we live in is most important for our own spiritual health and has grand implications for the Church, which is The Body of Christ, and for the world. Mass is not enough! !! There are no meetings, dues or vows. We just take on an obligation and make a promise with God in love to spend one hour a day in prayer and to fast on Fridays. !

St. Bruno Night Warriors!! St. Bruno Night Warriors (SBNW) are Christians who practice the same prayer formulas that our MAPW’s practice in #2, but they pray during the nighttime hours, anytime between 8:00PM and 4:00AM. These are the hours when fewer Christians are at prayer in our portion of the globe. These are the hours when the greatest evil takes place and there are fewer people at prayer. Our Night Warriors fill this gap and continue the prayer relay. With the diminution of the contemplative and cloistered religious orders throughout the Church, you and I are seriously needed to take up the slack. !“Prayer offered up at night possesses a great power, more than the prayer of daytime. There is nothing even Satan fears so much as prayer that is offered during the vigilance at night…” Isaac the Syrian “The faithful must get used to praying in the night, like Jesus. God carries out His works at night. In the night, all movement is transformed and grows by God’s strength.” Robert Cardi-nal Sarah, !! Brothers and sisters, please give this more than just a great deal of thought. Pray about this and make a decision to deepen and strengthen your love life for the Triune God, Mother Mary, all the saints and for Mother Church. This will benefit the world in which she, the Church, ministers her loving benevolence.!“Prayer is able to transform the world.” St John Paul II “[Prayer] remains the tool with which to reform the world.” Robert Car-dinal Sarah !
