Calming Room/Toddler Room: For the convenience of parents and young children, the cry room has windows to see into the church, speaker system to hear the Mass, and sound absorbing panels to confine sounds to the cry room. Please do not pacify children in the foyer - sounds echo into the church. This enables the parent, priest, and congregation to more prayerfully and attentively follow the Mass.
New Parishioners: Welcome to our parish community. We encourage you to become actively involved members of the parish.
John John John John the Baptist the Baptist the Baptist the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Behold,
the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. He is the one of whom I said, ‘A man is coming after me who ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.’ I did not know him, but the reason why I came baptizing with water was that he might be made known to Israel.” John testified further, saying, “I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from heaven and remain upon him. I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God.”

Please pray daily for the special needs of our Parish Community. Pray for the sick of the
parish, for our active military, and those listed in the Parish Prayer Book, that they may know God’s healing love. Please remember all those
who have died especially,
John WangJohn WangJohn WangJohn Wang
Give them light, O Lord, that they may go safely into Eternal Life Although we know that they have not left us behind forever but only gone ahead of us, still when death seizes our loved ones, our loving hearts are saddened by death itself. Thus the Apostle Paul does not tell us not to grieve but not to grieve like those who are without hope.
Let us grieve, therefore, over the necessity of losing our loved ones in death but with the hope of being reunited with them. If we are afflicted, we still find consolation. Our weakness weighs us down but faith bears us up. We sorrow over the human condition but find healing in the divine promise.

2019
With winter upon us, please note that for the time be-ing we will continue to offer both species of Holy Communion at the Saturday 5pm Vigil and Sunday 10am Masses. However, we encourage you to use your good judgment as to whether you wish to con-sume the Precious Blood, in addition to the Body of Christ, and if you are under the weather, please be mindful of your fellow parishioners and refrain from consuming the Precious Blood. Thank you for your consideration.
From the Desk of Fr. Andrew Dear Friends,
With this coming week’s annual March for Life in Washington DC, which is held each year around the January 22nd anniversary of the
1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the United States, the Archdiocese of Washington hosts a Youth
Rally and Mass for Life at Capital One Arena. In the early hours of the morning this Friday, I will be traveling downtown with our
school’s seventh and eighth graders to participate in this biggest archdiocesan event of the year, an event rooted in the joy of the Gos-
pel’s call to celebrate and stand for all of life, from conception until natural death. Our faith in the intrinsic dignity of every person calls
us to pray and advocate for an end to the terrible scourge of abortion in our country, which is a direct affront to human dignity. As
people of faith, we work and hope for a society in which every person, especially those most powerless-those who are unborn-is hon-
ored, and a society in which every expectant mother and father truly is supported and encouraged to choose life! And during these
days around the March for Life, we thank all of our parishioners committed to building a culture of life, especially through their partici-
pation in the annual 40 Days for Life campaigns as well as our new Angel Team through the Gabriel Network. Thank you for your wit-
ness to life!
But what does it mean to live out our call to be “pro-life”? We rightfully gather this week to march for life with a particular focus on the
horrors of abortion, and yet our call to be pro-life is a summons to an entire way of life, a way of living in which we see the innate good-
ness and dignity of every person we encounter, wherever that person comes from, whatever stage of life that person is in, whatever that
person believes. And so, to be pro-life is a call to reject fear and division, hostility and hate, and instead, open our hearts to encounter
one another in mutual respect and esteem. Our faith in the intrinsic dignity of the human person calls us to stand up for all people who
are on the margins or in the shadows, all those who feel excluded or unwanted, all those who are left behind. Every person is a reflec-
tion of God’s own image and likeness, every person matters in our mission of building up the Kingdom of God! And so the Church
boldly and prophetically speaks out for the rights of the unborn, for those with special needs, for immigrants and refugees, for the poor,
for the homeless, for just social and economic systems that afford every person opportunity to flourish, for the end of use of death pen-
alty and practices of euthanasia, for the protection of the family, for peace between nations, for proper care for God’s good creation that
is a gift to us all, for an end to racism and bigotry, and for every societal issue that impacts the human person in any way. To be pro-life
is the see the face of God in every person, and our love and care for one another knows no bounds!
And even beyond the issues implicated in the Church’s rich social teaching stemming from the dignity of the human person, our call to be
pro-life compels us to treat one another in accord with our human dignity in our daily interactions. Our words matter, our attitudes
matter, our encouragement and support for one another matters. At the heart of our pro-life ethic is a call to love, and as Jesus reminds
us, our call to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength is the same call to love our neighbor as ourselves. May our rec-
ognition of the dignity of the human person move us to seek a world where very person in treated in accord with their God-given dig-
nity!
In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
