In our Catholic Spiritual Tradition the invitation to Holy Communion makes a world of difference in a believer’s life. It is an invitation from Jesus, “Come to me all you that labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you.” (Mt. 11:28) …. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood, abides in me and I in him (Jn.6:56). Jesus has assured us that His Words are Spirit and Life (Jn.6:64). Our communion should result in the realization of these basic assurances from the Lord. To experience this we have to have that level of personal attachment and intimacy with Jesus. We have to progressively intensify our participation in the Holy Mass to grow to this level of communion. Everyone likes these ideas. Frequently the awareness of personal sinfulness and the consequent sense of unworthiness create obstacles to the growth in communion. Positively this can generate more humility and contribute to enhance our trust in His mercy. Our God is a personally caring, forgiving, and loving God. The exemplary and devotional commitment of the many leaders, like Moses, Noe, and Solomon in the Old Testament makes us feel how little we do to please the Lord. This challenges us to reflect on how seriously do we prepare for Communion, how wholly recollected are we, and on the effort we make to be free from distractions on our route to Communion. The example of King David should inspire us. He composed psalms and taught the people of Israel to praise God with all their hearts and to raise their voices every day to bless and glorify Him. They showed their devotion and ceremonial praise of God before the Ark. How much more devotion and reverence we should show in the presence of the Sacrament when we receive the Body of Christ. We have the privilege to behold on the altar, our God, Saint of Saints, Creator of men, and Lord of Angels. He fills us with firm faith, devout hope, and sincere love. The Holy Communion moves us to the amendment of our whole life, gives us the grace of devotion and love of virtue. In the fullness of the devotion our mind and body can feel greater strength. We have to check the tendency for blindness and the hardness of heart to the presence of the Holy. Daily participation can lead to carelessness. The sense of holy and sincere humility should reinforce our devotion to Holy Communion. The Lord’s invitation “come to me..” will help us to feel His love in us and for Him. We should train our children to experience the joy of Holy Communion. They should be encouraged to make a personal attachment to Jesus from very young age which should be progressively intensified as they grow in age and wisdom. God bless you all.
En nuestra Tradición Espiritual Católica la invitación a la Santa Comunión hacen una diferencia en la vida de un creyente. Es una invitación de Jesús: "Venid a mí todos los que trabajáis y sobrecargéis, y os refrescaré" (Mt 11:28). El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre, permanece en mí y yo en él (Jn.6: 56). Jesús nos ha asegurado que Sus Palabras son Espíritu y Vida (Jn.6: 64). Nuestra comunión debe resultar en la realización de estas promesas básicas del Señor. Para experimentar esto tenemos que tener ese nivel de apego personal e intimidad con Jesús. Tenemos que intensificar progresivamente nuestra participación en la Santa Misa para llegar a este nivel de comunión. A todo el mundo le gusta estas ideas. Con frecuencia, la conciencia de de nuestra pecado y el sentido de la indignidad crean obstáculos para el crecimiento en la comunión. Positivamente esto puede generar más humildad y contribuir a aumentar nuestra confianza en Su misericordia. Nuestro Dios es un Dios personalmente cariñoso, misericordioso y amoroso. El ejemplo y devocion de muchos líderes, como Moisés, Noé y Salomón en el Antiguo Testamento nos hace sentir lo poco que hacemos para agradar al Señor. Esto nos desafía a reflexionar sobre la seriedad con que nos preparamos para la Comunión, cuan entregados somos y el esfuerzo que hacemos para estar libres de distracciones en nuestro camino hacia la Comunión. El ejemplo del rey David debe inspirarnos. Compuso salmos y enseñó al pueblo de Israel a alabar a Dios con todo su corazón y a alzar sus voces cada día para bendecirlo y glorificarlo. Ellos mostraron su devoción y su alabanza a Dios ante el Arca. Cuánta más devoción y reverencia deberíamos mostrar en presencia del Sacramento cuando recibimos el Cuerpo de Cristo. Tenemos el privilegio de contemplar en el altar, nuestro Dios, Santo de los Santos, Creador de los hombres, y Señor de los Ángeles. Nos llena de fe firme, una esperanza devota y amor sincero. La Sagrada Comunión nos mueve a la enmienda de toda nuestra vida, nos da la gracia y el amor a la virtud. En la plenitud de la devoción nuestra mente y cuerpo pueden sentir una mayor fuerza. Tenemos que cuidar que la ceguera y la dureza del corazón no nos aparten de la presencia del Santo. La participación diaria puede conducir al descuido. El sentido de santidad y sincera humildad debe reforzar nuestra devoción a la Santa Comunión. La invitación del Señor "ven a mí ..." nos ayudará a sentir Su amor en nosotros y amor por Él. Debemos enseñar a nuestros hijos a experimentar la alegría de la Santa Comunión. Deben ser alentados a hacer un apego personal a Jesús desde muy temprana edad que debe aumentar a medida que crecen en edad y sabiduría. Dios los bendiga a todos.

Uno de los pasajes bíblicos más bellos tiene que ser el de Isaías 11:6. El profeta proclama la paz mesiánica como una paz en donde animales voraces como el lobo, el leopardo, el león y la osa habitarán tranquilamente con animales mansos como el cordero, el cabrito, el ternero y la vaca “y un niño pequeño los conducirá”. Esta es una paz donde la jus-ticia rectifica las desigualdades y pone fin a la violen-cia. En esta profecía el Cristo es un niño que pastorea el mundo con una eficacia sorprendente.
