This weekend, as we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, we rejoice in the mercy of God that becomes the sav, the anointment that heals our deepest wounds. We witness the depth of Jesus’ mercy in the Gospel reading where he appears to the very disciples that had abandoned him just three days previous. Jesus mercy pierces their fears, their regrets, their guilt of having betrayed him. God’s mercy meets their woundedness by saying, “peace be with you”. But, Jesus does not stop there. Jesus sends the disciples to share his mercy with the very people that had him crucified (John 20: 19-31). This Divine Mercy weekend is the perfect chance to focus on the floodgate of mercy that God pours forth upon any one who calls on his name. God’s mercy cares for the wounds resulting from the death of a spouse. God’s mercy strengthens those who are down hearted. God’s mercy forgives those who are tied down because of sin. God’s mercy is the very “sav” that heals all deepest wounds. The “ABC’s of Mercy” is very simple: “A”, ask for his mercy; “B”, be merciful; “C”, completely trust in the Lord. But not only do we celebrate how God heals our wounds, we are called to bring others to God’s mercy. We need to assure that we are teaching our children of God’s mercy. We need to make sure that we are lifting up those in prayer who are entangled in their own sins, blind to God’s presence in the lives. We need to make sure those around us are experiencing God’s mercy in and through what we say and do. God’s mercy is the very “sav” that heals all wounds. Lets us place ourselves and others in the midst of the healing fount of His mercy.

Baptismal Prep: A Baptismal Prep
class will be held Wednesday, April 20 at 6:30 pm (following Mass) in the
Level III Atrium. This class is de-signed for first time new or expecting
parents as well as parents who are
baptizing a child in the Catholic faith for the first time. You must register

Living the Eucharist
Parish Retreat – Sun-day, April 10th –
12:30pm – 3:30pm. We will celebrate our parish’s partic-ipation in Living the Eucharist by sharing a meal followed
by an afternoon of renewal, reflection and prayer. Activ-

raine Hess is a Catholic singer, songwriters, and music minis-ter born and raised in New Orleans. Lorraine is the Music Director at Divine Mercy Parish in Kenner, La. The Holy Hour will feature selections from Lorraine’s most recent album—AS I PRAY—which incorporates many aspects of prayer, repentance, trust, surrender, petition hand praise. Tickets are not required. An offering will be taken. Reception in Foley Hall will follow Holy Hour. This Holy Hour is to be enjoyed by the entire family.
Andrew and the other Seminarians from
St. Joseph Seminary School have been able to return to the School. The flood
damage is extensive and the students have limited classroom and dorm rooms
available. Andrew and the other seminari-
ans will need our continue prayers and support as the finish up this school year.

Jubilee Year of Mercy
April 3, 2016 Second Sunday of Easter or
Sunday of Divine Mercy Last year on this Sunday, Pope Francis de-
clared this year a Jubilee Year of Mercy.
Saint John Paul II named the Second Sunday of Easter “Sunday of Divine Mercy” in re-
sponse to Saint Faustina Kowalska’s Divine Mercy devotion, which offered spiritual com-
fort to hearts worldwide. But Francis challenges us to make that comfort we receive a gift we gladly share: “We are
called to show mercy because mercy has first been shown to
us.” The clearest expression of merciful love, says Francis, is pardoning others. “At times how hard it seems to forgive!”
he acknowledges. “And yet pardon is the instrument placed into our fragile hands to attain serenity of
heart” (Misericordiae Vultus, 9). The necessary
condition for living joyfully? “To let go of anger, wrath, vio-lence, and revenge.” May Divine Mercy Sunday in this
Jubilee Year of Mercy remind us that Jesus made mercy our life’s ideal and a criterion for our faith’s credibility: “Blessed
are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy” (Matthew 5:7).
Have you recently suffered the loss of a child? Are you feeling lost, confused, or as though no one understands what you are going through? The ladies of the SAIL min-istry here at St. Jude are there for you. SAIL (Support for Adoption, Infertility, and Loss) is a support group that aims to pro-vide hope and healing to those that have
suffered the loss of a child, who are struggling with infertility, or who are considering/pursuing adop-tion. SAIL meets Tuesday, April 12th at 6:30pm at St. Jude.
