Clergy Reflection

Mid-Lent Check In

God says to Moses, “This is what you shall tell the Isra-elites: I AM sent me to you . . . The L , the God of your [ancestors], the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob” (Exodus 3:14, 15). As Jesus would later say, God is not a God of the dead, but of the living, and so we believe that the dead will one day rise. At this midpoint of Lent, we pause to consider how our repent-ance is leading us to the Resurrection, to our reunion with the great “I AM.” Part of our repentance involves working to secure justice for all and helping our neigh-bor to live in God’s ways. We encourage each other and nurture each other, like the compassionate gardener of today’s Gospel, who tells the owner of the orchard that he will nurture the tree, fertilize it, and perhaps it will bear fruit.

Parish Life Parish Lenten Mission

April 1 - 3

“Enlisting Witnesses for Jesus Christ”

Come join us at our Lenten Mission! This year, the theme will be "Enlisting Witnesses for Jesus Christ." In an age where people are leaving the Church, it becomes critically important that we live our baptismal call to share the good news with others. Just as Andrew shared with his brother Peter the encounter he had with Jesus, we are also asked to invite others to partake of the grace that we have received. And like Mary who went in haste to visit her cousin Elizabeth and brought the presence of God to her, we are called to be "lights" to others with the presence of Christ.

Schedule: 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. Optional Potluck Dinner in the parish hall. 7:00 p.m. Prayer in the Church all groups. 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mission Presentation in three languages.

Spanish in the Chapel Vietnamese in the Parish Hall English in the Church

8:30 p.m. Closing Prayer in the Church all groups.

Presented in English by Fr. Timothy Mouton, C.S.C., in Spanish by Fr. Agustin Estrada, in Vietnamese by Fr. Tuong Van Nguyen, S.S.S.

There are no 7:00 p.m. Masses on Monday & Tuesday, April 1 & 2. _____________________________________________

LENT The Church invites us to join with our fellow Christians in experiencing our spiritual hunger . . . and in experiencing in our own bodies the hunger that imprisons most of the world. To that end those 14 and over are invited to abstain from meat on Good Friday, and all the Fridays of Lent. Those over 18 are invited to fast by taking only one full meal and two partial meals on Good Friday. The important focus is whatever will bring us closer to God.
