This weekend, October 19 & 20, we celebrate World Mission Sunday. Our celebration will center on prayer and sacrifice, offered at the Eucharist for the missionary tasks: for Priests, Sisters, Brothers and lay Catechist who are helping people to know the love of Christ through their service in village missions, in small schools, in medical outposts, in orphanages, refugee camps, and crowded cities throughout Africa, Asia, the Pacific and remote regions of Latin America.

Clergy Reflection Persistent Faith

Today’s liturgy is about the “necessity of praying al-ways and not losing heart.” Moses and Aaron and a per-sistent widow. We are today in a mortal struggle with dangerous enemies that threaten to kill us: deprivation, persecution, division, and violent behavior. We must engage in battle with the enemy, and we must hold up our hands in prayer, like Moses, to the God who is our source of power and will give us strength. Our faith in that God should make it possible to fight with confi-dence against these social evils which often seem to have the better of the fight. To be a people of faith is a great responsibility; much depends on our devotion. Living the gospel is an unending command that allows no time out or vacation time, no excuses. May we be worthy of our calling.

Deacon Corney

Today’s Readings

First Reading — As long as Moses kept his hands raised up, Israel had the better of the fight. Exodus 17:8-13 Psalm — Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121 Second Reading — Remain faithful to what you have learned and believed. 2 Timothy 3:14 — 4:2 Gospel — Will not God secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Luke 18:1-8

Please Do Not Leave Valuables In Your Vehicles

All parishioners are asked to be vigilant in locking their vehicles and storing anything of value out of sight or in the trunk. There have been several burglaries of motor vehicles in the parking lot. The thieves are smashing in windows and stealing personal belongings. The best way to avoid having property stolen from your vehicle is to not leave anything of value inside your vehicle! Thank you.
