Fr. Keith’s Korner Fr. Keith’s Korner Fr. Keith’s Korner Fr. Keith’s Korner November holds a special place in church

tradition as a time to remember our deceased loved ones. Please use the form in the bulletin this weekend to submit the names of your deceased family members and friends who have died during the past year, so that they can be included in a Litany of Remembrance at all the Masses on the first weekend in November. Those who are longer deceased will be able to be listed in the Book of the Dead (which will be located near the altar all month), or on the All Souls envelope intentions which will be placed on the chapel altar for weekday Mass. The second collection next weekend is designated for the upkeep and improvement of the small cemetery that is located in the grove of trees west of the large parking lot. As this fund grows through this collection, our cemetery committee hopes in the future to develop plans for this area as a prayer garden, with a labyrinth and benches and restored headstones. There are also damaged trees which need to be removed before this work can be done. Thanks for your generosity which will enable us to improve this area of our parish property. November is being observed in the Frederick area as “National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month, and a bulletin insert this weekend invites you to bring donated items for the cold weather shelter next weekend (as we have done for many years.) A vehicle will be parked outside the building to receive your donations. Our parish is part of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and our archdiocese will be celebrating the 225th anniversary of its founding next Sunday 2 November with a Mass at the Cathedral of Mary our Queen celebrated by Archbishop Lori. The Archdiocese of Baltimore was the first created in our country, and at one time was the only diocese, and hence is referred to as the "Premier See". All Catholics are invited to this celebration of the gift of faith that inspires our lives!

Our BelovOur BelovOur BelovOur Beloved Deaded Deaded Deaded Dead

November is the traditional month for remembering in prayer those who have died. Throughout the month of November, the All Souls’ Envelopes (with your intentions) will remain on the altar in the Chapel.

You are also invited to inscribe the names of all deceased family and friends in our Book of the Dead, which will be located near the altar during weekend Masses throughout the month of November.

On Friday 7 November at 7:30 PM, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Keith at St. Timothy Church in Walkersville,

followed by a reception in the Gathering Space.

All Saints Day: 1 November is All Saints Day and is normally a holy day of obligation. Because it falls on a Saturday this year, the obligation to attend Mass is abrogated, and so it is not a holy day of obligation. We will celebrate the Feast of All Souls at all weekend Masses on 1/2 November.
