Society of St.Vincent de Paul - St. Kevin’s Conference
Lent is a call to “give alms for the poor.” Wherever you live in the parish,
there are poor families within walking distance of your home. Is there a
family you know who needs assistance? Please call the Society of
St.Vincent de Paul office at 705-897-1461 so that together we can help the suffering
and the poor. Our next General Meeting is on March 5, 2020 at 1 pm in the St.
Kevin site Boardroom. Come see what we are all about. All are welcome!
Memorial Easter Flowers
There are envelopes available at both the St. Kevin’s & OLP sites for
parishioners who are interested in making a donation to the parish for
Easter flowers. We suggest this donation be given in memory of a
deceased loved one.
The names of loved ones who are being remembered will be mentioned in the
Easter bulletin. Any donation will be accepted.

Wisdom Quote
Always remember to retire at various times into the solitude of your own heart even
while outwardly engaged in discussions or transactions with others.
This mental solitude cannot be violated by the many people who surround you,
since they are not standing around your heart but only around your body.
Your heart remains alone in the presence of God. / Francis de Sales
Lenten Faith Sharing
Come join us for coffee and reflection on the Gospels during Lent. Let us, like
Jesus, enter into our own desert experience with the Spirit as our guide and
thereby be prepared for the Easter Event.
Every Friday morning during Lent at 10:00 a.m., after the 9:30 Mass
at the St Kevin site.
Facilitator: Pat Partington (705-969-3380)
(If anyone wishing to participate is unable to attend due to work commitments,
please feel free to contact me – I would be open to facilitating an evening group.)
FRAUD ALERT * * * I-TUNE CARD SCAM
Recently a parishioner’s personal e-mail was hacked, which
resulted in the hacker gaining access to their stored email
addresses for friends and other contacts; this included the email
accounts of both the parish pastor & secretary (as per 1st page of bulletin).
It was all part of an ‘I-Tune’s Card’ scam, which has become a popular way for
criminals to get your hard earned dollars. The hacker, posing at your friend, asks you
to purchase an I-Tune’s card as a favour to them. They then ask for the 16-digit code
on the back of the card, and proceed to quickly deplete the dollars on the card. The
purchaser is left with a worthless piece of plastic!
Parishioners should be very wary of any requests for money or personal information
that come to them in email’s, texts or by phone, even if they appear to be from
friends or legitimate businesses. If you receive any such requests that appear to be
from the parish, please do not respond, but instead call the parish if you have any
questions.
What Is Happening In our Community?
Monday Mass during Lent, at Christ the King Church in Sudbury During Lent, we are happy to provide a Monday Mass at 12:05pm, to be presided
over by area priests. We invite you to increase your devotion to the Lord in the
Eucharist by making a commitment to attend Holy Eucharist and draw closer to
the Lord in Word and Sacrament.
Congratulations to the Alzahran Family!
By the time of the printing of this bulletin the Alzahran family,
whom our parish community welcomed and helped support on their
arrival to Canada several years ago, will be Canadian citizens!
The parents, Abdulhakim Alzahran &and Khitam Al Kaddour, along with the 2
oldest boys, Mohamed,& Mustafa, studied for over a year and a half, in order to be
prepared for & pass the test. The younger children Ahmad, Rida, Nour, Hanan &
Rama qualified without writing the test. A ceremony was held Friday,
February 28th, where the actual citizenship was conferred upon all the local people
who have become citizens recently.
