Our Mission…
Catholic Schools call young people to holiness and prepare them to proclaim and live the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.
In collaboration with families, Catholic schools teach the principles of our faith and tradition, foster experiences of community and service, and provide educational excellence.
Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston are committed to the evangelizing mission of the Church to educate and form the whole person mind, heart, and spirit.
Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston
Schools will be as inclusive as possible given the resources available to educate the diversified learner.
Principal and other appropriate school personnel review current academic, social, medical and psychological evaluations to determine if the educational needs of the student can be met.
Each school will make the determination as to whether or not they can meet the students' needs and accept the student.
We can serve students that have educational needs that require intense accomodations and modifications to the regular curriculum through multi-sensory teaching strategies.
Specifically, we can serve students with: high functioning Autism
Aspergers
some developmental delays
mild to moderate mental retardation
moderate to severe ADHD
We cannot serve students that are: medically fragile
not potty trained
unable to feed themselves
require intense therapies and/or specialized equipment
exhibit severe behavior and/or emotional challenges
Our Mission…
Our Mission… St. Laurence Catholic School S.P.I.C.E. program recognizes
that each of our children is a unique individual with different learning needs. The S.P.I.C.E. program supports the educational needs of these children. We believe every child has different learning styles that provide diversity in the classroom environment.
Working together with the support of the S.P.I.C.E. program, the parish community, pastor, administration, teachers, and parents can help provide understanding, information, creativity and willingness to address special educational needs.
As spice adds flavor to food, children with special needs add richness to our lives. The inclusion of all children in our community promotes understanding, compassion, and respect for all. When we work together and learn to appreciate individual strengths and weaknesses everyone wins!
