  • May, The Month of Mary – Pray the Rosary

My Mom, God rest her soul, entered eternal life in March of 2011. She was a woman of great faith and prayer. I can still picture my Mom sitting at home with her rosary in hand. Through our Blessed Mother she was in constant communication with the Lord and taught my brothers and sister and me the importance of the rosary. My Mother is not alone in her love for the rosary. St. John Paul II said: “The Rosary has accompanied me in moments of joy and in moments of difficulty. To it (the rosary) I have entrusted any number of concerns; in it I have always found comfort…the Rosary is my favorite prayer. A marvelous prayer! Marvelous in its simplicity and its depth.” (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, 2). At a General Audience at the Vatican in October of 2016, Pope Francis said that “the Rosary is the prayer that al-ways accompanies my life: it is the prayer of simple people and saints...it is the prayer of my heart”. Pope Francis often gives people he meets a Rosary. “Our Lady – he says – is always close to Her children and ready to help when we pray to her, when we ask for her protection… let us remember she is always ready to serve and never keeps anyone waiting”.

As we begin the month of May, the month of the

Blessed Mother, I encourage you to pray the Rosary. Mary wants nothing more than to lead you to her Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Rosary is a prayer that will do that. I encourage you to keep a Rosary close by as you go about your day. Keep your Rosary in your pocket, your purse, in your car, and by your nightstand at home. If it is difficult for you to pray all 5 decades at one time then I urge you to pray parts of the Rosary throughout the day.

We live in difficult times. As Catholic Christians

our values are under assault from the world around us that denies objective truth, promotes a culture of death, and seeks to denigrate traditional family life. The Rosary is your armor against the enemy, the evil one. So, as we begin the Month of May, the Month of Mary, pick up your Rosary and listen to the words of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the humble Juan Diego centuries ago: “Do not be afraid, I am your compassionate Mother.” Pick up you Rosary this month, and every month, and go to your compassionate Mother. God Bless you and your family, Father Vince

Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia, Padre Vicente
