HEAVENLY CONNECTIONS – ALL SAINTS
On 1st November the Church celebrates the feast of all saints. On that
day we pay special honour to the saints who have already achieved what
is promised to us which is Eternal life with God in Christ. We celebrate
the joy of all those who have gone before us to inherit the Kingdom of
the Father. Not only do these men, women and children give us
inspiration by the way they lived their faith, and often died for it, they
also continue to offer us help in our daily lives. Though it is common to
say ‘rest in peace’ to someone who has died, for saints there is no rest
after death! They are expected to keep busy and many of them are
credited with hundreds of miracles. The Communion of Saints is our
Heavenly family. Like any loving family, the saints are always ready to
pray for us and intercedes for our needs. There are saints for every kind
of occupation, country and circumstance.
In fact we really get a great taste of some quirky Catholic humour when we study the lives of the saints:
who else would be the patron of BBQs but St Lawrence who reportedly told his torturers as they roasted
him over a fire, to turn him over as he was done on that side!
On 2nd
November we pray for all the faithful departed from our families, friends and neighbours.
CLASS NEWS
YEAR THREE
Thank you to all parents for assisting in the preparation of your children for Reconciliation, it was a
beautiful ceremony. The Year 3’s are going on an excursion this Friday 31 October to the Art Gallery.

hat, drink bottle and lunch in a small bag. Please return swimming forms as soon as soon as possible.\
Thank you.

YEAR FOUR
The children have been creating environmental artwork linked to their Geography program. This
includes a painted ‘Summer Bushfire’ piece and a ‘Volcanic Eruption’ piece. In the coming weeks, the
children will get the chance to create an ‘Environmental Diorama.’
Just a reminder the Science ‘Bags at home’ project is due this Friday 31st October. The children will be
presenting their short talk throughout Week 4.
Next Monday 3rd
November, there will be a short 20 minute iPad meeting in the school hall to discuss
the rollout of these devices. It is important at least one parent attends this meeting.
Miss Yen Wong, Year Four Teacher
YEAR FIVE
Congratulations to all the Year 5 students who attended the Sports Carnival last Friday. It was
wonderful to see their many gifts and talents being used to cheer, support and participate in events.
This week there are no Maths and English worksheets as the students are working on their Science
experiment presentations, due Friday, using Tellagami and iMovie. They also need to complete their
Granod and Night in the Country Visualisation activities. IXL Maths has also been set for the week –
No Mathletics. Next week we will be going to Kings Park to take part in the Bizarre Botanicals
programme in the Rio Tinto Naturescape. Please complete the permission slips sent home and return
them to school. Swimming forms also need to be returned ASAP. Have a fantastic week.
Mrs Roselyn Pizzino, Year Five Class Teacher.
YEAR SIX
The first class efforts of the sport faction captains and other Year 6 students who helped train the junior
students was justly rewarded when the St Lawrence won the Junior Interschool trophy last Friday. The
support and sportsmanship from students in the stands and on the track was fantastic.
Tomorrow, Thursday 30th
October, the Year 6 students will host the students from Balcatta Primary
School from 11.15am to 1.15pm. I have discussed with the students the food and drink to be supplied
by our students. We will have about 60 students to supply lunch for, so if each of our students brings
enough for 2 to 3 people we will have plenty. Thank you for your support.

Card Fundraising
With Christmas fast approaching now is the time to start thinking of sending Christmas cards so why
not buy a box or two and start sending to family and friends. A great idea as well is to buy the special

Extra order forms and examples of the cards are on display in the office.
Don't forget to ask your relatives, workmates and neighbours.
Please have orders and full payment back to the office by Friday 7 Nov. Pick up date will be on
Friday 28 Nov.
