Jesus, the Eternal Son of the Father, takes on our human nature. This coming down to us and becoming one with us changes our relationship to God forever. By Jesus’ becoming man, we have been recreated as true brothers and sisters of God the Son. We are now true sons and daughters of God the Father. At the preparation of the gifts during Mass the priest silently prays: “By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our humanity.” By Christ’s sharing in our humanity, we begin to share in the divinity Christ. Great is our dignity and great is our calling.
