B IBLE STUDIES

Wednesday Morning Ladies Bible ClassThe city of ancient Corinth was much like our own modern-day cities: a melting pot of electrifying cultural experiences to be had, along with the myriad pitfalls of spiritual depravity. Still, Paul wrote to the Church of God in Corinth - meaning God’s Church is meant to thrive in any city and every circumstance in which we find ourselves. Paul’s letter is as timely as ever. “All Things New: A Study of 2 Corinthians” by Kelly Minter is the study we will be delving into this fall on Wednesday mornings. Come join us on Wednesdays from 9:30-11:00 am. (Meeting room still to be determined) We will start on Oct 21. Leaders are Deb Krafft, Linda Nuechterlein, Jodi Reinert, Lynn Zeddies. Questions? Call Deb Krafft 652-9535.

PIES! PIES! PIES!Please consider donating a pumpkin or apple pie for the St. Lorenz Fish Fry on Friday, October 30th. Pies must come from a commercial establishment (not homemade). Call today to order a pie from Bavarian Inn, Zehnder’s, Kroger or Kern’s and they will deliver the pie to the Fish Fry for you at no charge. Super easy! If you prefer to deliver your own pies, please bring them to the school cafeteria before noon on October 30th. Look for the Sign Up Genius email that was sent last week to sign up, or you can call Tammy Perretti for your donation at: 248-318-7959 (call/text) or [email protected]. We appreciate your generosity!

Sunday morning Bible study at The Rock will resume on Sunday, October 18th. Chuck Anderson will lead an adult Bible study on “Me & My Bible” on Sundays from 9:30-10:30am.

Fleece blanket kits will be available at each church service the weekend of Oct 17/18. The kit will include

two pieces of fleece and instructions for how to tie them together into a blanket. A note card will also be included for you to write a personal

“LIFE QUOTES” from Lutherans For Life

“Laws of the State clearly matter, and the message they send affects the mindset of society. But, if our battle cry for life begins on the abortion table, then we’ve waited too long to speak. If our efforts to model life end in the courtroom, then we’ve already lost our children. God help us; it’s time to ask ourselves if we speak life or whisper death.” Tawnia Hoehne, Frazee, Minnesota – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • www.lutheransforlife.orgHurting from abortion? INFORMATION TO SHARE

Speaker: Rev. Dr. Michael Zeigler

“Unscaled Heights of Empathy”A king’s dream, a mysterious statue with feet of clay, an unearthly rock that grows to fill all the earth, and God’s empathy for a weeping world, embodied in Christ; it’s all part of Dr. Michael Zeigler’s message this week.(Daniel 2)The Lutheran Hour can be heard on WSAM 1400 AM, Sundays at 8:30 a.m. or on Sirius XM Family Talk 131, Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Go to www.lhm.org/broadcastresult.asp to find more broadcast information.

PRAY, PRAY, PRAY! 2 Chronicles 7:14 records that after Solomon had finished the temple the Lord appeared to him and said, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” WE, as His people, are called to do the same today.

To help us in this mission, DCE Carolyn Bira from Holy Cross Lutheran in Flushing, MI is providing a prayer guide called “40 Days of Prayer and Scripture for the 2020 Election” which may be accessed at https://s3.amazonaws.com/media.cloversites.com/d6/d621aba6-04b8-4860-a318-d6b51605fcfb/documents/Voter_s_Prayer_Guide.pdf (Simply click the link and scroll down to the 2nd page) This is not a guide to help you decide how to vote, this guide is a call to prayer! Don’t worry if you get started late, they’re short, so catching up won’t be a problem. May God respond to His people and heal our land!

Voting Is Your Right. Voting Wisely Is Your Responsibility. Proverbs 9:10 states that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” and in Luke 10:27 we’re reminded to “love the Lord with ALL our heart, ALL our soul, ALL our strength, and ALL our mind” – that’s everything. And it includes our vote.

Robotic voting based on party affiliation leads to an uninformed electorate and is detrimental to our nation. While God’s word doesn’t lay out specific policy prescriptions, it clearly differentiates right from wrong. Knowing that God demands complete obedience to His precepts, it’s our obligation to know each candidates’ positions on issues where God has clearly spoken.

Christian Citizenship Ministries urges you to prayerfully and sincerely seek to prioritize today’s issues through the eyes of the Almighty. Take the time to be informed and review voters guides from a Biblical perspective. To find analysis prepared by Christians and for Christians, visit:

We will continue to host these drives as there is currently a shortage of blood right now. Please watch for information on future drives and consider donating blood or volunteering to help host.

Your serving hands and hearts are showing others how beautiful it is to live with Jesus!

JOB OPPORTUNITIESThe following is used with permission from “A Closer Look at the Evidence” by Richard & Tina Kleiss

Examine the Evidence...

AnatomyAnimals are much better prepared for physical survival at birth than humans. A newborn wildebeest stands and runs with its mother five minutes after birth. The baby elephant can follow its mother all day long within twenty-four hours after birth. Yet the newborn human is a completely helpless creature.

This is the exact reverse of what one would expect if the Darwinian scenario were factual. According to evolutionary theory, those characteristics which aid in survival and reproduction will be most likely propagated. How would infant vulnerability and lack of strength contribute to evolutionary survival and development? The physical helplessness of humans at birth is a vivid illustration of how dependent we are on God for our spiritual existence.

It is also yet another of the countless evidences that evolution is not the method God used to bring us into existence. Instead, God designed humans to have adequate time to train their children to love and obey the One who created them and knows what is best for them.

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

Bulletin Bits for City Rescue MissionDid you know that City Rescue Mission of Saginaw provides shelter, food, clothing, and spiritual training to our neighbors who are struggling with homelessness? If you would like to know more about this ministry, please contact Jenny Deweese at 989-752-6051, ext. 122, or [email protected]. Thank you!

Lots has been happening around City Rescue Mission of Saginaw over the past few months. The new warehouse for donated goods - Impact Designs - is almost complete! We are excited about the possibilities that Impact Designs will open up to our guests! We will need many volunteers to help set up shelving and prepare the warehouse for operation. If you are interested in helping with this amazing ministry, please contact Jenny Deweese at 989-752-6051, ext. 122.Another way to help with Impact Designs’ mission is to sponsor the move-in of a family or individual. A donation of $250 for an individual or $500 for a family will make it possible for us to transform their empty apartment into a warm home. Smaller monetary donations can be made to cover things like cleaning kits, bedding packages, laundry kits, etc. If you are interested in donating, please contact Kimberly Ancel at 989-752-6051, ext. 123.
