“LIFE QUOTES” from Lutherans For Life

“Abortion isn’t something happening in another state or county or city. It is happening right in our backyards. And now we know many [who have had abortions] attend churches regularly and are sitting in our church pews looking for answers. May the Lord provide the answers needed to send a message of hope and forgiveness as well as proclaiming abortion to not be in God’s will.” Virginia J. Flo, Minnesota Regional Director & National Conference Director for Lutherans For Life – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • www.lutheransforlife.org

BotanyTwisted and weather-beaten bristle- cone pine trees cling to life in one of the harshest environments on Earth. High in the arid White Mountains

bordering California and Nevada, these rare and rugged trees have been growing for about 4,500 years! Their annual growth rings have been studied to give a reasonably

accurate idea of their history. Because of the hardiness of the bristlecone trees, it is fair to say they will likely go on living for thousands of years longer (barring any catastrophe that would remove them.)

Why don’t we find a grove of trees somewhere in the world dating back to 8,000, 10,000 or 15,000 years? If trees like this have lived 4,500 years, they could have certainly lived longer. It’s almost as though all these trees took root on a virgin Earth just 4,500 years ago!

The Bible gives a clear historical record of the global Flood about 4,500 years ago. With all animal and plant life destroyed during this Flood, it stands to reason that the trees of greatest longevity would date back only to that time and no further.

And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. Genesis 7:19

What does it mean when you talk about the “corpus” of the foundation?“Corpus” refers to the foundation’s financial assets. The corpus consists of two parts: generous gifts from donors and earnings on investments. Currently, the corpus is more than $11 million.www.stlorenzfoundation.org

Orphan Grain TrainRemember the giant container we requsted help for loading last fall? On Oct. 26, 2020, Orphan Grain Train (OGT)—Michigan loaded the international shipment. Ten tons of humanitarian supplies and relief were loaded by 31 volunteers onto a 40-foot high cube shipping container! The supplies were sent to Casa de Refugio (House of Refuge) Puerto Caimito, La Chorrera, Panama. The shipment included 1,400 boxes of humanitarian goods, dozens of wheelchairs and walkers, 4 hospital beds, medical equipment, quilts, and clothing. This was another exciting culmination of processing donated goods received from caring Christians, churches, and organizations which support the Orphan Grain Train humanitarian mission!
