“RCIA is a Process” The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process of inviting people into the Catholic Church. The invitation is God’s work; the response is ours. This process is a step by step journey of faith, in which interested people may slowly look at the Catholic Faith and decide if the Catholic Church is where they are being called; or for those who have been away from the Church for some time and would now like to ―come home‖ to participate fully in the Sacramental life of the Church. We also invite those who would just like to ―renew‖ and strengthen their faith to join us.

RCIA classes for the year 2014-15 are being held on Sundays from 11AM to 12:30PM, in room 523 in the CYO building located next to the ballfields. If you have questions about the Catholic Faith or would like to know more about the RCIA process, please call the Faith Formation Office 433-2777 ext. 138.

138, o a Sergio Bernier, 857-0365.

READY TO DELVE INTO SCRIPTURE? Our Thursday Bible study with Today's Application meets every Thursday at 10am in Room 211. Contact the Faith Formation Office for more information.

THRESHOLD BIBLE STUDY: JESUS, THE MESSIANIC KING

    Part Two: Matthew 17-28 ROOM 209 Oct. 29 - Dec. 10 / Wednesdays at 5:30pm

The second half of Matthew’s Gospel moves from the Transfiguration to the Resurrection, announcing Jesus as the world’s true King. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus bring the hopes of ancient Israel to their dramatic climax, linking Jesus royal character to His humble service and self-sacrificing love. This study completes the unique portrait of Jesus developed in the first half of Matthew’s Gospel and offers firm guidance for the Church and disciples today.

Bring your book to class. They can be purchased online at amazon.com or Christianbook.com. Contact the Faith Formation office for more information.

OUR ST. LUKE ALTAR SOCIETY WILL HAVE THEIR GENERAL MEETING on Thursday November 6, at 9:30am in the St. Joseph Room.

Mike English, our seminarian from St. Luke, moved a step closer to priesthood. Mike was installed as an Acolyte last Saturday, October 25. Keep Mike in your prayers.

RESPECT LIFE LIVING ROSARY PROCESSION The St. Luke’s Annual Respect Life Living Rosary

neighborhood procession, co-sponsored by the Guadalupanos and Knights of Columbus Council #10240, was held on Friday, October 3. The Respect Life Living Rosary procession was led in song by the Spanish Choir. Students from our School made signs and posters for the group to carry as they processed and handed out literature to the people they met along the way.

Members of the Knights of Columbus Council #10240, Women of the Well, Amigos de Jesus, Angelus de Dios, Habitat for Humanity, ACTS Core, Adoration, Chrysalis, Asamblea de Oracion, Young Adult Ministry, Coro de Luz Choir, Faith Formation, C.A.L.M, and Respect for Life Ministries, and parishioners met at the St. Luke statue at 6 p.m. and began their procession through the surrounding neighborhood.

The group returned to St. Luke to unite in prayer as they prayed a living rosary. The Sorrowful Mysteries were prayed in each person’s native language. With more than 100 people in attendance there were plenty of people to represent each rosary bead. The Guadalupanos would like to thank everyone who participated—the students who made the signs and the community coming together to walk and pray. It was a great celebration of the rosary.

40 YEARS OF SERVICE Everett & Evelyn Mc Cormick were honored by our Saint Vincent de Paul Society for 40 years of service. The couple was integral in starting our Saint Vincent de Paul Society. It’s said that the first SVDP offices was the trunk of their car because they would carry food and clothing for distribution around San Antonio. Everett & Evelyn were presented with a certificate and two Saint Vincent Crosses by the Society.

C.A.L.M MOMS Our C.A.L.M. Moms group celebrated All Souls & Saints Days on October 27. The kids dressed up and ―trick -or-treated‖ for the names of deceased loved ones from the staff in the Administration offices. They learned how to pray for the souls of the faithful departed, the Moms read the Sunday Gospel, and the group sang songs, and did All Saint’s Day crafts!

Thank you to everyone who helped plan and participated in this year’s Parish & School Fall Festival! Visit www.saintlukeparish.com to see more photos!
