Dear Families and Friends of St. Margaret Mary,
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, that is, the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. If the sacraments are the crown of the Catholic faith, the Eucha-rist is the crown of the sacraments. It is the greatest sacrament because “in the Eu-charist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ Himself.” Vatican II names it the “source and summit of the Christian life.” Jesus Christ, the Son of God continued His presence and work among us by appointing apostles and es-tablishing the Church, His mystical Body. Why? In order to achieve the love-union with us which established by the Holy Eu-charist. Love’s ultimate aim is union and the Eucharist is the most intimate union be-tween us and Christ. In the Eucharist, Jesus is truly present—Body, Blood, Soul and Divin-ity. He is present, not absent, God-with-us. He is present, not past, but happening now, He is presented as a gift that keeps on giv-ing, offered not withheld. Christ offered Himself once for all on the Cross. The Eu-charist does not repeat the sacrifice made on Calvary but re-presents it to the Father.
The Holy Eucharist is not merely a symbol as Protestants believe—but is the very same Christ, born of the Blessed Virgin Mary 2000 years ago—the same Christ of-fered on every altar of every Catholic Church in the world throughout the ages—for “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” The practical conse-quence of this is that we should have the
same attitude to Jesus in the Eucharist as we would have to Christ himself visibly pre-sent to the apostles. So, God performs a great miracle at each Mass, one that is re-peated each day in every Catholic Church wherever Mass is offered. Such a miracle happens because all things are possible for God. It may be beyond our mind’s capaci-ty to fully understand but is not beyond our heart’s capacity to believe and fully live.
St. Sharbel Maklouf, a modern-day saint and miracle worker from Lebanon, used to pray from midnight to noon prepar-ing himself to say his midday Mass which he would reverently celebrate every day. From noon until midnight he would then give thanks for having received Jesus in the Eu-charist. His example shows us that the Holy Eucharist should be the center of our life. To receive Holy Communion worthily, we should always be prepared, that is, in a state of grace by frequent confession. Re-membering to fast one hour beforehand, we should enter the church’s sacred space prayerfully, in reverent adoration of God’s Word and Sacrament. Then having re-ceived Jesus, we should always remember to spend some time afterwards in prayerful thanksgiving before returning to our daily obligations.

Estimadas familias y amigos de Santa Margarita María,
Hoy celebramos la solemnidad del Corpus Christi, es decir, la fiesta del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. Si los sacramentos son la corona de la fe católica, la Eucaristía es la corona de los sa-cramentos. Es el mayor sacramento, porque "en la Eucaristía se contiene todo el bien espiritual de la Iglesia, es decir, Cristo mismo." El Vati-cano II lo nombró la "fuente y cumbre de la vi-da cristiana." Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios continuó Su presen-cia y actuando entre nosotros mediante el nom-bramiento de apóstoles y el establecimiento de la Iglesia, su Cuerpo místico. ¿Por qué? Con el fin de lograr la unión de amor con nosotros, es-tablecida por la Santa Eucaristía. El objetivo úl-timo del amor es la unión y la Eucaristía es la unión más íntima entre nosotros y Cristo.
En la Eucaristía, Jesús está realmente presente-Cuerpo, Sangre, Alma y Divinidad. Él está pre-sente, no ausente, Dios-con-nosotros. Él es el presente, no el pasado, sino ocurriendo ahora, que se presenta como un regalo que se sigue dando, que no se ofrece retenido. Cristo se ofre-ció a sí mismo una vez por todas en la cruz. En la Eucaristía no se repite el sacrificio hecho en el Calvario, pero re-presenta al Padre.
La Santa Eucaristía no es más que un símbolo como los protestantes creen, sino es el mismo Cristo, nacido de la Virgen María hace 2000 años es el mismo Cristo ofrecido en cada altar de cada Iglesia Católica en el mundo a lo largo de los siglos-para "Jesús Cristo es lo mismo ayer, hoy y siempre”.
La consecuencia práctica de esto es que debe-mos tener la misma actitud de Jesús en la Euca-ristía como nos gustaría que el mismo Cristo se haga visible a los apóstoles. Por lo tanto, Dios hace un gran milagro en cada misa, que se repi-te cada día en cada Iglesia Católica donde se
ofrece la misa. Tal milagro sucede porque todas las cosas son posibles para Dios. Se puede estar más allá de la capacidad de nuestra mente para entender completamente, pero no está más allá de la capacidad de nuestro corazón para creer y vivir plenamente.
San Charbel Maklouf, un santo de nuestros días y milagroso del Líbano, solía rezar desde la medianoche hasta el mediodía preparándose para decir su misa del mediodía, que iba a cele-brar con reverencia todos los días. Desde el me-diodía hasta la medianoche él daba gracias por haber recibido a Jesús en la Eucaristía. Su ejem-plo nos muestra que la Santa Eucaristía es el centro de nuestra vida. Para recibir la Santa Co-munión dignamente, siempre debemos estar preparados, es decir, en un estado de gracia por la confesión frecuente. Recordando ayunar una hora de anticipación, hay que entrar en el espa-cio sagrado de la iglesia en oración, en adora-ción reverente de la Palabra y el Sacramento de Dios. Luego de haber recibido a Jesús, debemos recordar siempre pasar algún tiempo después en acción de gracias en oración antes de regre-sar a nuestras obligaciones diarias.
Acerca del misterio de la Santa Eucaristía, Santo Tomás de Aquino escribió: “Te adoro con devoción, Dios escondido, oculto verdaderamente bajo estas apariencias. A Ti se somete mi corazón por completo, y se rinde to-talmente al contemplarte.

LA EUCARISTIA UNIFICADORA DE LA IGLESIA Por Humberto Beltrán
Una de las sentencias más impresionantes de las lecturas de esta fiesta del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo, es la de Moisés: “No sólo de pan vive el hombre, sino de todo cuanto sale de la boca de Dios”. Tan fuertes son estas palabras del Antiguo Testamento que el mismo Jesús, mil años más tarde, citó esta sentencia de Moisés para rechazar la tentación en el desierto. En las lecturas de la liturgia de esta fiesta, encon-tramos dos ideas: primero, este es un pan ex-traordinario que da nuevo conocimiento; se-gundo, el efecto de este conocimiento es unión sólida entre cristianos.
Hace algunos años el santo Papa Juan Pablo II mandó celebrar el Año de la Eucaris-tía. El Papa subrayaba la importancia de la Eu-caristía a la luz del Concilio Vaticano II, la Eu-caristía como misterio de Luz en el cual Cristo se revela y es conocido, la Eucaristía Fuente y Manifestación de la comunión eclesial, y la Eu-caristía como Principio y Plan de la iglesia. Un teólogo medieval decía que “La Eucaristía es una encarnación perpetua o continuada.”
A finales del siglo primero se nos recor-daba que el pan y el vino de la Eucaristía se hacen con muchos granos de trigo y de uva que crecen por muchos campos; son como la iglesia que se integra de muchos miembros que crecen por los campos del mundo.
En el evangelio de San Juan, en lugar de la Institución de la Eucaristía, tenemos el lavatorio de los pies de los discípulos en la Ul-tima Cena, que ayuda a comprender la Euca-ristía como amor y servicio a la comunidad. El amor mueve a una persona que va a partir de viaje a quedarse con la persona amada a través de fotos, regalos, cartas o teléfono; Jesús se quedó con nosotros en persona pero bajo otra apariencia: sólo Dios podía hacer el milagro de quedarse de ese modo. La fiesta del Corpus Christi es una fiesta emi-nentemente católica, ya que nosotros creemos en la presencia real de Jesús en la Eucaristía. La Reforma Protestante dio pie a una intensi-ficación de la devoción de los católicos a Jesús Sacramentado, ya que los protestantes niegan la presencia real de Jesús en la Eucaristía. El evangelio de esta fiesta tiene un realismo
impresionante que sólo se entiende en térmi-nos de la celebración sacramental de la Euca-ristía entre los lectores de Juan, y contra el pe-ligro docentita que amenazaba a la comuni-dad. Los judíos encontraban difícil tragar la doctrina eucarística de Jesús.
El Pan Unifica
San Pablo, en el corto párrafo que hemos leído en la segunda lectura, explica que el poder de unificación es el elemento más importante de la Acción de Gracias, o sea, de la Eucaristía. El que no sabe que el pan nos unifica, el que no pone en práctica este mensaje, no vive con Cristo. No se puede hablar con más claridad: “El pan es uno, y así nosotros, aunque somos muchos, formamos un sólo cuerpo, porque co-memos todos del mismo pan”. Para el cris-tiano, entonces, la celebración de la liturgia es un medio para unificarse con todo el género humano.
Reflexión.
Si nos sacrificamos, sabrá el mundo que el mi-lagro del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo es aún más maravilloso que lo que hasta ahora habíamos imaginado. Porque los que quieren sacrificarse por los demás, aunque tengan mucho más que nosotros, morirán en su pecado. Y nosotros viviremos en el nuevo conocimiento de que no sólo de pan vive el hombre y gozaremos de aquella unión que viene de la fuerte herman-dad con Cristo.

ADORACION EUCARISTICA
Además de nuestra Adoración Noc-turna el primer viernes de cada mes, ahora tendremos exposición del Santísimo Sacramento durante el día en la iglesia. Comenzará después de la Misa de las 8:15am y continuará hasta las 6:45pm. justo antes de la Misa del Primer viernes, a las 7:00pm, tendremos la Bendición con El Santísimo. La Adoración nocturna continuará en la Capilla del Santísimo Sacramento a las 8:00pm. Por favor considere pasar una hora en oración durante el día en la iglesia o por la noche en la capilla.

Registrations for the Faith Formation pro-gram now open! Please come in to the Faith Formation of-fice between 2pm and 7pm (Monday thru Friday), or Sundays 8am to 2pm to join our Parish Faith Formation sessions. All Faith Formation Programs are a two (2) year process.

The Thursday morning Bible Study Group, which is led by Fr. John, is continuing its study of St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians. The group meets on Thurs-days from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph Cen-ter. Our upcoming meetings are as follows: June 15, and 22. June 22 is our last meeting before a summer hiatus, which will continue until mid-September. All are welcome to join, even if you have missed previous meetings or have never studied the Bible before. Faith Sharing Meeting June 22nd
Jesus tells us to fear no one who can destroy the body, but to fear the one that can destroy both body and soul. We often we hear of people being persecuted for their faith. It’s difficult to think about, but what would you do if put in a life-threatening situation where your faith was questioned? In a quiet room with friends -- listen, learn and share at our next Faith Sharing meeting on Thursday June 22nd, from 7 to 9pm at the Saint Margaret Mary Parish Center. We’ll reflect upon the readings for the Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time:

ALTAR SERVER TRAINING
Training for new Altar Servers will begin soon. Children who are in at least the 3rd grade and have received their Frist Com-munion are encouraged to join! Our next session will be this Saturday at 10am .

We invite the parish community and all parish ministries to bring your banners or flags. We also in-vite the children who have received their First Holy Communion to come dressed in their First Communion attire and bring a basket with flower petals.
Congratulations to the 2017 Knights of Columbus "Vocations in Action" Speech Contest winners!. St. Margaret Mary school students from fifth to seventh grade competed for $3000 in scholarships; and gave prepared and impromptu speeches on Cath-olic vocations. The newly refurbished pews are scheduled to be installed beginning Thursday at 9am.
