Second Collection Note from Pastor Great news, wonderful news! We have hired a new Business Manager. Joe Horan will start at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church as our Business Manager on March 5, 018. Joe and his wife, Eileen, are parishioners at St. Jude Catholic Church. They raised their family at St. Jude and are strongly connected with Roncalli High School. Joe's background is in accounting. He has had much experience in account reconciliations, as well as administering the budget and explaining budget variances at Citizens Gas and other companies. He has extensive experience in the monthly closing process and journal entry preparation. And he has worked with various auditors and provided many worksheets, account analysis and documentation for annual audits. He has strong computer proficiencies in MS Excel some MS Word and various accounting software packages, including QuickBooks, Cognos, Sage Pro, and Oracle. During this hiring process, I resourced the possibility of outsourcing the bookkeeping portion of the Business Manager's responsibilities and hiring a candidate with more management skills than accounting experience. After discerning between a manager focus or an accountant focus Business Manager, we stayed with the traditional model of our Business Manager being a trained accountant. Let us welcome Joe as he becomes a part of our staff.
