We are One Family of Faith in Jesus Christ. We are the merged faith community of St. Martin of

Tours, founded in 1906, and Our Lady of Lourdes, found in 1872, both located in

Bushwick, Brooklyn.

We are rooted in God’s word and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church; we value and

celebrate our diversity, faith, hope and love in the Lord Jesus. It is our belief that the Holy Spirit

guides us through the different moments of our parish life, and that the Blessed Mother of God

assists us in this journey of faith. We are committed to help each other strengthen our faith, com-

munion and participation through God’s Word, Holy Eucharist and Evangelization. In this way

we answer the call to discipleship in our parish life. We seek to become more

inclusive and vibrant. We want to keep organizing ourselves in a way that all people feel

welcomed, accepted and encouraged to share their gifts and talents.

¡¡Remember Religious Education Program has stared !! Futures registrations will be held every Sunday, after the 9:00am

Mass until 11:45 during classes at the School . On Weekdays will be at the Rectory Office: Mon. Tue. and Wed. From: 10:00am to 12:00 and 1:00pm to 2:00pm. First time registration, you must bring a copy of your child’s birth Certificate, Baptism Certificate and for

Adults as well. Registration for the second time, if you did not sub-mit the documents last year, you must do it now, Your child cannot receive the Sacrament of First Communion or Confirmation without those documents. For those children who received First Commun-

ion in May can register for the Followers of Jesus classes.

“Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life.” In today’s reading

of the Letter to the

Corinthians, St.

Paul describes

how members of

the Christian com-

munity have dif-

ferent functions

and gifts that con-

tribute to the unity

of the community.

As members of the

body of the

Church, we are so

united that we

share in the good

of one another.

Even the sick who

practice many ad-

mirable virtues in

their illness con-

tribute to the well-

being of the community. Our Savior wishes that holy love unite

us. As living members of Jesus Christ and the Church, the fruits

of our labor flow down upon those who are united by sacred

love. Many grapes are pressed together to make one wine. Many

grains of wheat are ground and kneaded together to make one

single loaf. The gift of our sharing the Eucharist together is the

source of our union, for the Eucharist unites us as children of

God.

We must give great value to the gifts received from God and do

our best for the welfare of all. This may be difficult at times. We

may have many doubts in accepting the responsibilities given to

us. However, in simplicity of heart we must say, “I can do any-

thing in God who strengthens me.” We do what we have to do:

not troubled by the greatness of the task, the amount of time re-

quired or the many delays encountered. For the Holy Spirit

dwelling in us makes our frail works display the greatness of

God’s love that unites us.

os, San Pablo dice que

los miembros de la co-

munidad Cristiana

tienen diferentes fun-

ciones y dones que con-

tribuyen a la unidad de

esta comunidad

Como miembros del

cuerpo de la Iglesia esta-

mos tan unidos que

compartimos nuestro

bienestar individual.

Incluso los enfermos

que aún a pesar de sus

padecimientos son con-

stantes, admirablemente,

en la práctica de las vir-

tudes, están con-

tribuyendo al bienestar

de la comunidad. Nues-

tro Salvador desea que el amor sagrado nos una. Como miembros

vivientes de Jesucristo y de la Iglesia, los frutos de nuestra labor son

distribuidos, y benefician a todos aquellos con quienes estamos ligados

por medio del amor sagrado. Para hacer un vino se exprimen muchas

uvas. Muchos granos de trigo son molidos y amasados para hacer una

hogaza de pan. Compartir la Eucaristía juntos es un regalo y es la

fuente de nuestra unión, por que la Eucaristía nos une como hijos de

Dios.

Debemos valorar inmensamente los dones que hemos recibido de parte

de Dios y hacer nuestro mejor esfuerzo por obtener el bienestar de to-

dos. Puede que esto sea difícil a veces. Puede que muchas veces tenga-

mos dudas en cuanto a si aceptamos las responsabilidades que nos han

sido encomendadas. Aún así, y con sencillez en nuestro corazón, debe-

mos decir “yo todo lo puedo en Dios quien me da fortaleza”. Nosotros

hacemos lo que tenemos que hacer: sin preocuparnos por cuán grande

es la tarea encomendada, el tiempo que requerirá, o las muchas de-

moras que se nos puedan presentar. Por que el Espíritu Santo, que hab-

ita en nosotros, hace que nuestras frágiles obras reflejen la grandeza

del amor de Dios que nos une a todos.
