Truth is a person, Jesus Christ! It is this Truth for whom we are all made; Catholic, Protestant, Jew, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, etc. Without that free exercise thereof, we cannot bring the Truth to His people. But, if we can, it will lead His people to freely accept Him. Without it, souls are lost. Let us, this 4 th of July, pray intensely in thanksgiving for our freedom of religion, speech, and self-determination. Happy 4th of July

Dear Family,

We are so blessed to live in a country that was founded by people who built

this country on freedom! Among other things, they were looking for religious

freedom because they came from a country that didn’t afford them that very

thing.

To emphasize how important an issue this was to them and to the country they

would found it is enumerated as the very first freedom given us in this great

country. It comes even before freedom of speech which is included in the

same amendment. Please read it for yourself. Following is the first amendment

in its entirety. It states…

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or

prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of

the press; or the right of people peaceably by assemble, and to petition the

Government for a redress of grievances.

Notice that religion is mentioned in two phases. First, the government cannot

establish a religion. This is because if it did, it would be able and even, in a

sense, obligated to make everyone follow that religion. And, that would not

afford freedom at all.

The next phase states that that same government shall not prohibit the “FREE

EXERCISE THEREOF”. This means that you and I not only are allowed to gather

to worship but that we exercise our religion in the public square. PERIOD!

What’s at stake if we lose our religious freedom? Truth! Truth is a person, Jesus

Christ! It is this Truth for whom we are all made; Catholic, Protestant, Jew,

Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, etc. Without that free exercise thereof, we cannot

bring the Truth to His people. But, if we can, it will lead His people to freely

accept Him. Without it, souls are lost.

Let us, this 4th of July, pray intensely in thanksgiving for our freedom of religion,

speech, and self-determination. Let us humble ourselves in prayer and

penance so that God may rescue this great country He has given us from the

ever-growing clutches of lawless, socialistic chaos in our government confusion

of what reality is. May we all once again be truly one nation under God.

May God truly bless you and the United States of America!

Welcome, Judy Conner!

When Stephanie Hannasch stepped down from the

CRE position to focus on raising their family, I

wondered who would be sufficiently qualified to fill her

position. To find someone, I did the normal thing…put

a notice in the bulletin here and at surrounding

parishes. We received no response. Then, the Holy

Spirit said, “Hey, Father, as a priest, shouldn’t you pray

about it?!” Hmmm! What a novel idea! So, I listened

and prayed and lo and behold, Judy Conner said she

was interested! Prayers answered!!! Please join me in

welcoming Judy Conner as St. Mary’s new

Coordinator or Religious Education! Thank you, Judy,

for heeding the call of the Holy Spirit!

Confraternity of Christian Doctrine

VBS Registration

VBS will be Monday, July 19 through Thursday, July 22

from 2:00pm to 5:30pm. At 5:30pm each day, parents

and families are invited to join us for supper, provided

by St. Mary’s. On Thursday, the last day, there will be

a potluck with grilled chicken, provided by St. Mary’s.

VBS is for kids entering kindergarten through 5th grade.

This year’s theme is Creation. VBS will include Bible

lessons, crafts, and games. Suggested donation (to

cover materials and snacks) is $20 per child with a

family max of $50. If a family is unable to make a

donation, no problem, sign up anyway. We are in

need of helpers, adults and youth. Childcare will be

provided for young children of helpers. Please fill out

the form that was sent to you via email or pick one up

in the Narthex for registration. Please return it to the

parish via the box in the Narthex or the Parish Office.

This year’s VBS Coordinator is Amy Schneider, who can

be reached at 715.937.8397

Adventure Camp

July 18th through July 23th - A week long camp near

Ashland, WI where students 6th grade and up are able

to engage in fun outdoor activities with other students

as well as opportunities to pray, attend Holy Mass, and

receive the sacraments. Cost is $395 with possible

fundraising opportunities. Please contact the Parish

Office if interested.

Interim Maintenance Job Opening

St. Mary’s Parish is looking for someone to fill in for our

Maintenance Tech position, on an interim basis, for an

undetermined length of time. It is necessary that the

person have good mechanical skills and have at least

a basic understanding of regular household

maintenance. A working knowledge of boiler systems

is a plus, but not essential, at least for the interim role.

Interested persons should contact the Parish Office at

715.743.3840 or email

[email protected]

Are you attracted to Carmelite Spirituality or the

writings of St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, or

St. Therese, the Little Flower? Do you have a desire to

deepen your prayer life? Do you want the support of

a Community? The Secular Order of Discalced

Carmelites in Marshfield meets once per month and

will begin a new formation cycle in October. Please

call Lori Slattery at 715.213.2732 for more information.

Time for another summer cookout! Come join Father

Greg and Harley Saturday, July 10th after the 5:00pm

Mass. Bring your food, drinks, chairs, & games! Father

will provide the fire! Come out and try the new driving

range or just sit and relax with your parish family!

Wisconsin Safe Haven Laws allow

parents to relinquish an infant 72

hours old, to any first responder,

no questions asked. Those first

responders could be police

officers, 911 emergency medical

staff, or hospital staff members.

You do not have to give your

name or address to the professional accepting the

baby unless the baby has been harmed, someone is

forcing the parent to give up the baby, or the baby is

more than 3 days old. The parent may be asked if

they are willing to fill out a form, but it is NOT required;

however, it will help providers give the infant the best

care. If you wish to learn more about this law, visit

http://dcf.wisconsin.gov/cps/safehaven

“For where two or three are

gathered together in my Name,

there am I in the midst of them.” -

Matthew 18:20

Everyone is invited to share in the Divine Mercy

Chaplet and Rosary, held every Thursday at 3:00pm in

the church. If you have any questions, please contact

Rogene Matuszak at 715.743.8138.

Prayer for our Nation

God our Father, giver of life, we entrust the United

States of America to Your loving care. You are the

rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are

the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty,

and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for

Your glory and dwell among Your people. Send Your

Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation’s leaders.

Open their minds to the great worth of human life and

the responsibilities that accompany human freedom.

Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in

seeking and doing Your will. Through the intercession

of Mary Immaculate, patroness of our land, grant us

the courage to reject the “culture of death.” Lead us

into a new millennium of life. We ask this through

Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Tu es sacerdos in aeternum,

secundum ordinem Melchisedech!

Congratulations to Reverend Father Timothy Reither,

grandson of Carol Reither, who was ordained a Holy

Priest of God for the Diocese of La Crosse at the

Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman in La Crosse, on

Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Father Reither has been assigned as Associate Pastor

at St. Mary Assumption Parish, Durand, Holy Rosary

Parish, Lima, and Sacred Heart Parish, Mondovi. He

will serve with Father Emmanuel Asomoah-Bekoe.

You are a priest forever,

according to the order of Melchisedech!
