FAST
Lenten Regulations
Abstinence from meat on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent (for those 14 and older) is required by
Church law. Also, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fasting: those between the ages of 18 and 59
should eat less, meaning take no solid food between meals and only one full meal that day. Serious health conditions
excuse a person from these precepts
GIVE
Make a Difference in the St. Mary's of Tomorrow-
Please consider a remembrance to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in your will and estate planning. By establishing this personal legacy of faith, Catholics can give witness
and thanks to God for their many blessings.

quire about sacramental preparation.

April 7th, 2018.
SPONSORS AND GODPARENTS
The catechism states that the godfather, godmother or spon-sor must be “firm a believer” (No. 1255). The true intent is that the godparent or sponsor be an active, practicing Cath-olic, who treasures the Catholic faith, provides good exam-ple and would joyfully and eagerly be a partner with the parents in raising the child in the faith. The godparent’s faith need not be perfect or mature, but it must be valued and active. He/she is fully initiated, attends Mass regularly, and if married, is validly married in the church.
