Focus on FaithFirst Day of Autumn September 23
As we welcome the arrival of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, this week, let us pray that his message during World Meeting of Fam-ilies is embraced by all.
God and Father of us all,in Jesus, your Son and our Savior,
you have made usyour sons and daughters
in the family of the Church.May your grace and love
help our familiesin every part of the worldbe united to one anotherin fidelity to the Gospel.
May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid of your Holy Spirit,
guide all families, especially those most troubled,to be homes of communion and prayer
and to always seek your truth and live in your love.Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!
Everywhere we look, we behold the handiwork of GodAutumn scenes of majestic color, fill this earth which
we now trod,Leaves of red, gold, and crimson beauty , seem to float gently to the ground.
Witnessing of the Creator, without even making a sound.
Autumn’s blessings are abundant and a time for our thanksgiving God has blessed the earth again, He is our Savior and reason for living.
In this season of special beauty, let us bow our heads and pray,Giving God praise for abundant blessings, thanking Him each new day.

Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
A READING FROM THE BOOK OF WISDOM
The wicked say: Let us beset the just one, because he is obnoxious
to us; he sets himself against our doings, reproaches us for transgressions of the law and charges us with violations of our training. Let us see whether his words be true; let us find out what will happen to him. For if the just one be the son of God, God will de-
fend him and deliver him from the hand of his foes. With revilement and torture let us put the just one
to the test that we may have proof of his gentleness and try his patience. Let us condemn him to a shameful death; for according to his own words, God will take care
of him.
The word of the Lord . . . Thanks be to God.
RESPONSORIAL PSALM The Lord upholds my life.
A READING FROM THELETTER OF SAINT JAMES
Beloved: Where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without inconstancy or insincerity. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who cultivate peace.
Where do the wars and where do the conflicts among you come from? Is it not from your passions that make war within your members? You covet but do not possess.
A READING FROM THE HOLY GOSPELACCORDING TO MARK
Jesus and his disciples left from there and began a jour-ney through Galilee, but he did not wish anyone to know about it. He was teaching his disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is to be handed over to men and they will kill him, and three days after his death the Son of Man will rise.” But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to question him.
They came to Capernaum and, once inside the house, he began to ask them, “What were you arguing about on the way?” But they remained silent. They had been discussing among themselves on the way who was the greatest. Then he sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Taking a child, he placed it in the their midst, and putting his arms around it, he said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.”
The Gospel of the Lord. . . Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
You kill and envy but you cannot obtain; you fight and wage war. You do not possess because you do not ask. You ask but do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
The word of the Lord . . . Thanks be to God.
Firstly, a big thank you to God for the almost mirac-ulous change of fortune with the weather. It could not have been nicer, from deluge to sunny day for the time of the picnic. Secondly, thanks to Brian Manngard, our facilities director, the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Daughters and the leadership of our youth group running the kid’s games really went above and beyond.
Pig Roast Report
As always I keep asking myself:
“Who’s got it better than Jeff Maurer?”
Blessed Feast Day!
Confessions are availableafter every
Saturday and Sunday Mass!
Act of Contrition:My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.In His name, my God, have mercy.
Amen.
