PRAYERS AT MASS

I CONFESS to Almighty God, and to you my brothers and sisters that I have sinned through my own fault (strike breast) in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do. And I ask the blessed Mary ever Virgin, all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

GLORY TO GOD in the highest and peace to his people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, Almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father. Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us; you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

WE BELIEVE in one God, the Father, the Almighty maker of heaven and earth of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, of one Being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven, by the power of the Holy Spirit He became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son He is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

MAY THE LORD ACCEPT the sacrifice at your hands, to the praise and glory of his name, for our good, and the good of all His Church.

P: The Lord be with you.A: And also with you.

P: Lift up your hearts.A: We lift them up to the Lord.

P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.A: It is right to give Him thanks and praise.

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, Lord, God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest!Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest!

1. Christ has died, Christ is risen,Christ will come again!

2. Dying you destroyed our death,Rising you restored our life. Lord Jesus, come in glory!

3. When we eat this bread and drink this cupWe proclaim your death, Lord Jesus, Until you come in glory!

4. Lord, by your cross and resurrection,You have set us free. You are the Saviour of the world.

OUR FATHER who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

LAMB OF GOD, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

LORD, I AM NOT WORTHY to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.

PRAYERS AT BENEDICTIONO God in this wonderful Sacrament you have left us the memorial of your Passion, grant that we may so reverence the Sacred Mysteries of your Body and Blood, that the taste of the fruit of your redemption may ever be within us. Who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

THE DIVINE PRAISESBlessed be God.Blessed be His holy name.Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true man.Blessed be the name of Jesus.Blessed be His most Sacred Heart.Blessed be His most Precious Blood.Blessed be Jesus in the most holy Sacrament of the altar.Blessed be the Holy Spirit the Paraclete.Blessed be the great mother of God, Mary most holy.Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception.Blessed be her glorious Assumption.Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and mother.Blessed be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse.Blessed be God in His angels and in His saints.

CONSECRATION OF THE HUMAN RACE TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Your altar. We are Yours and Yours we wish to be, but to be more surely united with You, behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to Your Sacred Heart. Many indeed have never known You, many too, despising your precepts have rejected You. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Your Sacred Heart.Be King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken You, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned You. Grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger. Be King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbour of truth and unity of faith so that there may be but one flock and one shepherd.Grant, O Lord, to Your Church assurance of freedom and immunity of harm. Give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation, to it be glory and honour for ever and ever. AMEN.

CONSECRATION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARYVirgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, Queen of Heaven and Earth, Refuge of Sinners, we consecrate ourselves and our Parish of St. Mary’s in a very special way to your Immaculate Heart. With this act of consecration, we promise to live with You and through You fulfill our Baptismal Vows. We promise to convert ourselves according to the teaching of the Holy Gospel and to dedicate ourselves to the Holy Will of GOD;We place into your hands, O sweet and most merciful Mother, our whole life and our Christian vocation. Under your protection we wish to be apostles and be united in prayer. We promise to love the Holy Father on whom we beg your special protection. We promise to the best of our abilities, to lead all those we come in contact with, towards this great devotion to You. We raise our hearts to you our merciful and powerful Mother, O Clement, O Loving, O sweet Loving Mother.

ACT OF CONTRITION

Page 9: St. Marys Parish Hymn Book

O My God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins, and detest them above all things, because they deserve Thy dreadful punishment, because they have crucified my loving Saviour Jesus Christ, and most of all, because they offend Thine infinite goodness. And I firmly resolve, by the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again, and carefully to avoid the occasions of sin.

THE MEMORARERemember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence I fly unto thee. O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful; O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

PRAYER TO THE INFANT JESUSDear Infant Jesus in the Manger, by virtue of Your Holy Name, I beg of You to grant my petition.

Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. Infant Jesus, I trust in You!

Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And Thou shall renew the face of the earth.Let us pray, O God, who has taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that by the gift of the same Spirit we may be always truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation.

NOVENA PRAYER TO MOTHER OF PERPETUAL HELP

Page 11: St. Marys Parish Hymn Book

O Mother of Perpetual Succour, behold me a miserable sinner at thy feet. I have recourse to thee and put my trust in thee, O Mother of Mercy, have pity upon me. I hear thee call by all, the refuge and hope of sinners; be then my refuge and my hope, Succour me for the love Jesus Christ; stretch forth thy hand to me, a poor sinner, who recommend and dedicate myself to thee as thy perpetual servant. I bless and thank God for having in His Mercy given me this confidence in Thee, the pledge, as I believe of my eternal salvation. Alas, too often in past times have I miserably fallen because I had not recourse to thee. I know that thou wilt help me, if I recommend myself to thee, but I fear lest in the occasion of falling, I should cease to call thee and so should lose my soul. This then is the grace I seek from thee, and I beg of thee, as far as I know how and can, to obtain it for me, namely, the assaults of hell, always to have recourse to thee and to say to thee: O Mary help. Mother of Perpetual Succour, suffer me not to lose my God. Amen

NOVENA PRAYER TO ST. ANTHONY OF PADUARemember, O Saint of miracles, that you have never failed to help and to console anyone who has ever sought you in his need. I, too come to thee who are so rich in graces and who are the favoured friend of the infant Jesus, confident that I do not pray in vain.

Eloquent preacher of the infinite mercy of God, refuse not my prayer, but take my petition before the throne of God, so that I may have help and strength in my present trial, and necessity.

Listen, together with my voice, to those countless numbers who trust in you and appeal to you in their need. Amen

1 A NEW COMMANDMENT
