    ~Parish Mission Statement~

We are the Family of St. Maurice at Resurrection Parish joined together sacramentally in Jesus Christ, sharing our skills and abilities across the

world to nourish all human hungers. We continually renew our energies by celebrating around the Table of the Lord and grow to be

    more effective ministers.

in the name of Jesus. Amen.

HOPE IN THE MIDST OF TRIALS Jesus "will not contend or cry out, nor will His voice be

heard in the streets. The bruised reed He will not crush; the

smoldering wick He will not quench until judgment

    is made victorious." —Matthew 12:19-20

There are many evil things occurring right now. Family

farmers, home owners, and many others are being victimized by subtle

maneuvers (see Mi 2:1ff). Also, plots are being hatched (see Mt 12:14), people are

being tortured, children are being aborted, and many other sins are being

committed. This can be discouraging, but there's much more taking place.

Jesus is peacefully, quietly, and gently working to apply the fruits of His

redemption. If we are baptized into Jesus, our lives are hidden with Christ in God

(Col 3:3). We in Christ are also living and working, and the smallest details of our

lives are charged with power because we are God's children living in Him and part

of the communion of saints. Great evils are taking place in our midst, but a

greater grace is also at work (see Rm 5:20-21). Therefore, we have every reason to

be full of hope in the name of Jesus (Mt 12:21).

Prayer: Father, in the midst of evil fill me with hope.

Promise: "Here is My Servant Whom I have chosen, My loved One in Whom I de-

light. I will endow Him with

    My spirit." —Mt 12:18

    Praise: St. Lawrence once

found himself in a town with

    no Catholic Church and so

walked forty miles to get to

    Mass.

  • Guardian Angels

According to the doctrine of the Roman Catholic

Church, every person has a guardian angel

who protects you from birth from

physical and spiritual harm. The "Guardian Angel

Prayer" is one of the top 10 prayers young Catholic children learn in their youth. The

Prayer acknowledges a personal guardian angel and pays homage to the work that the angel

does on your behalf. It is expected that a guardian angel keeps you safe, prays for you,

guides you, and helps you through tough times. The Guardian Angel Prayer Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom His love entrusts me here, ever this day [night] be at my side to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen. More About Your Guardian Angel The Catholic Church teaches believers to treat your guardian angel with respect and love while having confidence in their protection, which you may need throughout your life. Angels are your protectors against demons, their fallen counterparts. Demons want to corrupt you, draw you toward sin and evil, and lead you down a bad path. Your guardian angels can keep you on the cor-rect path and on a road toward heaven. It is believed that guardian angels are responsible for physically saving people on earth. There have been numerous stories, for example, of people being rescued from harmful situations by mysterious strangers who disappear without a trace. Although these accounts are chalked up as stories, some say it proves how important angels can be in your life. It is for this reason; the Church encour-ages you to call on your guardian angels for help in our prayers. You can also use your guardian angel as a role model. You can imitate your angel, or be Christ-like, in things you do to help others including those in need. According to the teachings of Catholicism's saintly theologians, every country, city, town, village, and even family has its own special guardian angel. Biblical Assertion of Guardian Angels Jesus made reference to guardian angels in Matthew 18:10. He said once, which is believed to be a reference to children, that “their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.” by Scott P. Richert

The Purpose and Meaning of the Ten Commandments The purpose of the Ten Commandments is to provide stability, sanctity of life, and proper

balance between work, rest, and worship. The first three commandments establish the right relationship we need to have with God, the rest establish boundaries for right relationships

with others. Each week we will explore each of the Ten Commandments for their deeper meaning.

The Third Commandment is about Sanctification and Relationship “Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.” God starts off the third Commandment with the word “Remember”. This is because He knew we would forget it. God asks that we keep it set apart for Holy purposes so we can draw nearer to Him. The Third Commandment concludes the section of the Ten Commandments that specifically helps define a proper relationship with God, how we are to love, worship and relate to Him. It explains why and when we need to take special time to draw closer to our Creator. It is also a special sign between us and God forever, that it is Him that sanctifies us Him alone we belong to and worship. The Sab-bath, the seventh day of the week was set apart by God as a time of rest and spiritual rejuve-nation. So why is this Commandment so frequently ignored, attacked and explained away by so many? Could it be because the challenges to the Sabbath Commandment are views generated by the devil? After all, this being wants us to accept these views because he hates God's law. He does all he can to influence us to ignore, avoid and reason our way around it.
