ST MICHAEL’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY NEWSLETTER - DECEMBER 2019
KS1 Nativity Years 1 and 2 enjoyed sharing their Nativity
and Carols with parents, grandparents
and parishioners. Thank you for joining us to
remember the reason for the season!
Year 3 trip
Year 3 had a lovely time at Wildside Activity Centre. We made dens
and rafts in the woodland. We also enjoyed making our own paper
potters and planting our own Christmas Trees.
We experimented with candles to produce carbon and then used
vinegar to see the effect of carbon
dioxide.
Nursery Trip Nursery children enjoyed an amazing day out at Ash End
Children’s Farm in Tamworth. We fed the animals, met Father
Christmas and his reindeer and dressed up to take part in the
Nativity story, with a real donkey for Mary. Farmer Julie and
Farmer Meg said that we were the best behaved children they had seen. Well done Nursery!
Children’s Christmas Eve Mass

each of us take
time from our
busy schedule to
prepare for the
celebration of Je-
sus’ birth. Through the life of
Jesus and the fulfillment of His
mission may we gain the prom-
ise of salvation.
Let the joy that this brings to
our hearts keep our faith alive
and make us desirous of going
out and making disciples of all
the nations. Amen

Reception Trip
Reception had a fantastic day out at
West Midlands Safari Park. We got to
see lots of exciting animals including
Lions and Rhinos. After our Safari we
boarded Santa’s sleigh to visit the
North Pole and the man in red himself.
We were very lucky as we got to visit
Santa’s workshop and pick our own
presents!
Year 2 Trip
Year 2 enjoyed visiting Frank Chap-man Centre , Bewdley. We used our
map and orientation skills, built dens, walked across bridges and also visited Father Christmas.
Pantomime
On Friday the whole school enjoyed a fabulous production of Jack and the Giant Bean-stalk. "Oh yes we did" . All the way from nursery up to year 6 there was smiles and laughter and lots of interaction enjoyed by both students and adults.
Carols for SVP Representatives from St
Michael’s choir performed Christmas carols beautifully for special guests invited by the St
Vincent de Paul charity. We have had such lovely feedback
about how beautifully they sang and how well they inter-acted with all of the guests.
We are so proud of you!
Dear Parents / Carers,
As Christmas approaches, our children will be looking forward to a well-earned rest and lots of “down time”. This may include time with new games and toys, some of which may have access to the internet. Please be vigilant around our children’s online safety by ensuring that appropriate restrictions are in place and maybe spend some time familiaris-ing yourself with the game / app / device so that you are aware of its content. This could be a lovely time to engage with your child and their interests whilst ensuring that they remain safe online.
It is a good opportunity too, to revisit previous conversations you may have had with your child about why they need to take care online and to remind them to never share personal details and to always speak to a safe grown-up if they experience something that worries them.
Please be aware that a number of games that are popular with our children, such as Roblox, have the facility to send messages to others. This facility can be turned off through the settings.
Wishing you and your children a happy, peaceful and safe Christmas! Mrs Bradley

Road Safety
There have been a number of concerns raised by parents / carers regarding children’s safety as they travel to and from school. We share these concerns and ask that you please:
1) refrain from driving down the cul-de-sac if at all possible (there is parking available within easy walking distance)
2) Park considerately— a few parents have recently started to park on residents’ driveways. Please respect their private property.
3) Use the footpath all the way to the school entrance.
In January, there will be an additional member of staff on welcome duty each day who will be available to assist parents and children to stay safe near school. Many thanks for your co-operation.
