“Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road, while He opened to us
the scriptures?” — Luke 24:32
How often do we take the time to discern what Jesus wants from us? Are our prayers always petitions, asking Jesus to do things for us? If so, that’s a one-sided relationship. Living our
faith means developing a personal relationship with Jesus. Just like any friendship, there is
give and take, each side listening to each other and helping each other out. Take time in
silence to listen to what Jesus is asking of you.

2020 Eagle Scout Project
Howdy! My name is Mark Carlisle and I am a senior at Needville High School. I am currently working on my Eagle Rank with Troop 129. As part of the requirements for this rank, I am required to research, fundraise, and build a project that will benefit a non-profit organization in my area. I have chosen St. Michael ‘s Catholic Church as the location for my project for many reasons: St. Michael’s is one of the founding churches in our community, has a great outreach program that benefits needy families daily through the St. Vincent de Paul Society and it happens to be my home parish where I attend weekend services and Youth Ministry.
One of the buildings on the property is the Parish Hall. It is used by many in our community as a place to gather for meetings, bible studies, and birthday/anniversary parties. My favorite memories include helping with Thanksgiving Basket distributions and ornament decorating with children during our towns Country Christmas celebration. During these events, I realized that it is difficult for parents with children in strollers and individuals with canes, walkers and wheelchairs to access the building. This is why I have decided to build two ramps including guardrails as my eagle project.
Unfortunately, I am unable to raise money through traditional fundraisers like bake sales to raise funds for my project due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, I am asking for monetary donations from family, friends, fellow parish-ioners, businesses and my community to support this project. My goal is to raise $2000 by May 1, 2020, at which time I will begin my project. Donations of any size can be made payable to St. Michael’s Catholic, and mailed to P.O. Box 95, Needville, TX 77461. Please include Mark’s Eagle Project in the memo line. If you would like to make a credit card donation, contact the parish office at (979) 793-4477 or you can use Venmo@Jennifer-Carlisle-17. All contributions are tax-deductible. If you are unable to make a donation at this time, please keep this project and myself in your prayers.
Thank you for taking time to read this article. I am honored to complete this project for St. Michael’s and give back to the Church who has given so much to me. God Bless each of you!

As a parish, we are grateful to those parishioners who give of their time serving in a ministry during Mass. In recent months we have experienced a significant amount of liturgical minister no-shows. The ministry schedule is published in the bulletin the weekend prior to the first weekend of the next month. Be sure to notify the parish office at (979) 742-3383 of any known scheduling issues, such as vacations, business, etc. that would make you unavailable on a certain day or time period for the coming month, so the schedule may be prepared appropriately. Please report NO LATER than 15 minutes prior to the Mass start time. This will reduce the turmoil that arises in trying to find a replacement in such a very short notice. It is your responsibility to attempt to find a replacement when you are scheduled but cannot serve. A list of all the ministers and their phone numbers can be found in the Priest’s Sacristy. You can use this list to help find a replacement. If you are not assigned to help at Mass that day and would like to assist if needed, please check in before Mass begins. Appearance is important in the Church. We encourage you to always dress like you have come to do something important, that is, to worship God. That way if you need to fill in as a minister, you will be properly dressed. Thanks for doing what you are doing. It is a great service to the parish and all of the effort you make is deeply appreciated.
*If anyone is interested in volunteering for any of our ministries or have questions, please contact the Parish Office at (979) 742-3383.
