A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Looking back to last March, when the pandemic hit Louisiana and the Governor
closed our schools, who would have imagined the challenges the last year has brought.
I am so thankful to our teachers, who are the real Warrior heroes of our journey. The
teachers recognized from the beginning that the students needed to be in school so that
they could learn in a supportive environment. The teachers have courageously met the
challenges of conducting in-person lessons while doing everything they can to miti-
gate the spread of the virus. They have taken on so many extra duties: wiping down
desks, sanitizing surfaces, taking on extra duty, reminding students to pull up their
masks; all while teaching rigorous lessons in order to keep our students growing and
learning. We are all grateful to our faculty and staff who each day make the decision
that our students are worth the sacrifices.
The students have done an outstanding job of following the safety protocols while at
school. The results have been that there has been very little infection from students
being on campus. Most of the spread has been from outside of school activities. We
need to continue to urge our students to follow safety precautions while at school and
while away from school. With the vaccine there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but
we cannot let our guard down quite yet.
Parents and guardians deserve our gratitude also. You have entrusted your student to
us and have had confidence that we are doing all that we can to mitigate the spread of
the virus among our student population. Thank you for your trust and your partner-
ship.
As Warriors, we rise to meet the challenges that we face with the knowledge that with
God nothing is impossible. By joining together as a school community, we were and
are able to handle any difficulties that we face. This past year has shown that the peo-
ple of St. Michael High School are blessed with the courage and fortitude to handle
even the most difficult challenges.
Just a bit more of our school year lies ahead. Our third nine weeks ends on March 12.
Please be sure to encourage your students to be responsible for their work and to give
their best efforts in all that they do. Please check our gradebook program, PlusPortals,
often. Feel free to email the teachers with any concerns or questions. Together we
can provide every opportunity for our students to be successful.
As we continue our Lenten journey and head towards the celebration of Easter, we re-
member to depend upon the Strength of a Warrior as our year-long theme states.
Knowing that this strength comes from God who walks with us on our earthly journey
towards our heavenly reward.
God Bless,
Ellen B. Lee, Principal
