Trouble Hearing Over the years many people have indicated that they have difficulty hearing at St. Michael’s. The Parish Councils have taken action in studies of the sound system and have made several adjustments of the speakers, etc. with some small success. Certain areas have perfect reception and some sections draw complaints of not being able to hear at all. Problems stem from the input on the part of those speaking; the impaired hearing on the part of some; the contours of the church building with many arches, pillars, etc.; and the position of the choir having been relocated from the choir loft. Besides the problems listed above, our equipment is quite old and the Parish Council has been considering a new sound system. Some studies and estimated have already been completed. At the moment we are concentrating on lowering the debt through the “Capital Campaign” and other fundraisers. The Finance Council is reluctant to take on more debt until the present debt is paid down. Thanks to parishioners who have helped to reduce the debt from approx. $750,000 to approx. $436,000. If there is a special donor for a sound system, please contact us. In the meantime we will try to speak more slowly and clearly. Many parishioners have told us that they have moved around the church trying different areas and have found places where they are able to hear and now take that as their usual seat at Mass. Thanks for your patience and support as we work toward a new sound system. Fr. Fraser

St. Michael’s Pot of Gold Lottery has completed one year. We would like to
thank all who have participated. Last Monday, we were able to present St.
Michael’s Parish Chair of Finance a cheque representing the proceeds for the
Church ($17,226.73). Below is the year’s financial statement for this project.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all those who contribut-
ed to the project by building and painting the boxes, picking up the money,
and counting the cash and making the draws on a weekly basis. The project
was greatly enhanced because of this generous donation of time and man-
power by the many people who willingly came forward to help out. A special
thanks goes to Ellen Dinan who took on the immense responsibility to Chair
the Pot of Gold committee and to all of the committee members.

... Reminding you now... (2 Tim. 1:6) A PRIORITY FOR ACTION – LEADERSHIP We are called to be leaders with the heart and mind of Jesus Christ. Working together, as co-responsible members of the People of God, the laity, consecrated persons, deacons, priests, and Bishop exercise their gifts for the good of the Church and the World. Immediately after the close of the Council called Vatican II, a noted Church leader wrote about co-responsibility in the Church of today. He spoke of co-responsibility as the fact which will define the pas-toral activity of the future. In our day, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI reaffirmed this fact that, while respecting vocations and respective roles, all are “co-responsible for the Church’s being and action.” As we implement our Diocesan Pastoral Plan – this co-responsibility in the Church can be captured and expressed in hav-ing an active Presbyteral Council with regional gatherings of priests; as well as active Parish Pastoral Councils, Parish Leadership Teams, Regional Pastoral Councils and a Diocesan Pastoral Council. As we move forward, in the near future a mechanism will be put in place to establish Regional Pastoral Councils and eventually a Dioc-esan Pastoral Council. Given that the Church is a mystery of communion of people with God, with one another in service of the world around us, our Plan will foster a spirituality of communion and inspire how we live as Church.

Super Draw Fathers’ Day, June 15, 2014
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all those who took part in the Fathers’ Day Super Draw for 2014. Because of your
efforts, the Draw was, once again, a very successful one. Special thanks are extended to the Group Chairs – Marilyn Elliott, Elaine Jimmo,
Carol/Harold Fleiger, Patricia Lee, Gena Skidd and Paul O’Hara. They not only acquired the necessary ticket sellers but also sold great
numbers of tickets themselves.
The commitment of our parishioners who sold tickets is truly commendable. There were over 70 people who took the time to sell tickets
for the Parish and we should note that there were several who sold 30 or more, with a few selling over 60. The top salespeople, once
again, were Gerard Doucette and Marilyn Elliott. To them, we owe a special “thank you”.
Our gratitude is extended to all of the businesses and individuals that donated, sponsored and/or provided prizes for the Draw – Brand
Source Renaud’s Home Furnishings, Lounsbury Furniture, Patterson’s Sales and Service, True Tronic Computers, Siddall’s Jewellery and
Towne Ford Sales & Service. They should be commended for their community involvement. Also, our thanks are offered to all of those
that made donations or sponsored advertisements on the ticket. Because of them, we were able to achieve the success we had.
Following the mass on Fathers’ Day, Patricia Lee and her committee organized a group that served a brunch in the Parish Centre. We owe
them and the many who prepared the casseroles, biscuits, baked beans and hash browns a debt of gratitude. Also, we thank John
McLaughlin for providing the incredible biscuits for the meal. To those who prepared the tickets for the draw, to Harold Fleiger and
Dosithe Power for making the draws and to the Lion’s Club for supplying the large drum for the tickets, we offer our thanks.
Thank you all for the support that you have given to St. Michael’s. It is truly appreciated. The funds raised through this project will be ap-
plied our debt. The financial statement will appear in next week’s bulletin - Finance Council & Super Draw Chair
