During this season of Lent let us try our very best to develop our sense of belonging to our families and in our relaonships. Let us ask ourselvesHow can I provide a deep sense of belonging to my family and to my loved ones?” “…What should I say or do differently to deepen the sense of belonging to my parish community? As you are already aware, I am taking 42 of our parishioners on a Holy Land Pilgrimage for the next two weeks. This is a very important faith journey that we make. Please remember us in your daily prayers for the next two weeks. I assure you all that I will offer Holy Masses in Holy Land for all our Parish- ioners and for their intenons. May God bless us all! Yours in Christ, Fr. Joe Manjaly.

PARISH PRIEST’S CORNER

Dear friends in Jesus Christ, Last Thursday, I had the opening school Mass at St. Mary Mackillop. The theme they chose for the year was ‘belonging’. What a wonderful way to begin the school year. A powerful message to all of us as we struggle at times with the attitude of individualism and indifference. We are all lucky that we are born into a family and to a society, and to be part of this beautiful parish community, where we feel like we belong. Quite often people come to me and share that they have been coming to this parish all their life, and some for last 50 to 60 years, and others just less than one year, some others even after they moved away from the parish boundaries, still continue to come to this parish, after 30 to 40 minutes of driv-ing. Some of them have told me that they all feel a sense of belonging here. I am so proud to hear such a remark and we can all be proud of it. This is the result of our openness, friend-ship, generosity and oneness. I thank each one of you for your support and contribution to make this parish a home for many who come here to enrich their spiritual life by sharing in One bread and One chalice. This parish is a ‘Second Home ’for many. Such a wonderful way they look after this community and I pray that God continues to bless us with many more parishioners with such an awesome heart to treat their parish community as their ‘Second home’. As human beings we can’t exist as an is-land. We can’t thrive alone, and we don’t want to be excluded. We all want to belong to each other. A sense of belonging helps us to value life and to cope with our daily challenges. As a par-ish community let us work together in this ministry of Evangeli-

zation to make others feel welcomed, especially our new parishion-ers. During this season of Lent let us try our very best to develop our sense of belonging to our families and in our relationships. Let us ask ourselves… “How can I provide a deep sense of belonging to my family and to my loved ones?” “…What should I say or do differently to deepen the sense of belonging to my parish community?” As you are already aware, I am taking 42 of our parishioners on a Holy Land Pilgrimage for the next two weeks. This is a very important faith journey that we make. Please remember us in your daily prayers for the next two weeks. I assure you all that I will offer Holy Masses in Holy Land for all our Parish-ioners and for their intentions. May God bless us all!

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Joe Manjaly.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, please take note of the following directives from the Parish Priest, the Diocese of Parramatta and the NSW Department of Health.

• During the invitation to greet each other the ‘sign of the peace’ please avoid shaking hands.

• There will be no distribution of the Precious Blood dur-ing the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

• In the interest of all others, we encourage you to re-ceive the Precious Host in the hand rather than on the tongue.

• Please ensure to sanitise hands before and after distri-bution of the Precious Host.

There is no need for extra Ministers of Holy Communion at this time – please follow instructions (emailed and printed) from Mairead Stynes and the Parish office. Thank you for understanding.

During the 6pm mass last Sun-day evening we conducted the first formal Rite which is part of the RCIA process leading

to the Sacraments of Initiation at the com-ing Easter Vigil.

We introduced to our community

Gabriele Towner-Fitter, and Kaine Mannell.

Gabriel and Kaine were received into the Order of Catechumens, and will receive the Sacraments Baptism, Con-firmation and Eucharist at the coming Easter Vigil.

In November last year we also introduced Joe Chen and Erin Ball, to our communi-

ty, who will also be initiated into the Church at the coming

Easter Vigil.

Please make them welcome and keep them in your prayers as we journey with them to Easter.
