14th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

OBSTACLES

The prophet Ezekiel, Saint Paul, and the Lord Jesus share something in common in today's scrip-ture readings. They all experience obstacles to their ministry. Ezekiel is summoned to prophesy to the Israelites, who are "[h]ard of face and obsti-nate of heart" (Ezekiel 2:4). Saint Paul recounts how he has been given a "thorn in the flesh" (2

Corinthians 12:7). The Lord Jesus is unable to perform many signs in his native place. The Gospel tells us that "[he] was amazed at their lack of faith" (Mark 6:6). We too sometimes encounter obstacles as we travel along the journey of faith. So often we experience weakness on this journey. Let the words of the Lord to Saint Paul encourage us today: "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). — Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Pastoral Care

MASS FOR THE LIVING—You can request a mass to be celebrate for the intention of someone who is sick, going through difficult times and in need of spiritual strength. We are accustomed to offer masses for the souls of our deceased, but we should do the same in the intentions of our families, friends and anyone in need.

We need volunteers to help with this year’s JOURNAL, RAFFLE and DINNER DANCE.

It involves making phone calls, mailing out journal contracts, selling raffle tickets, placing flyers, etc. If you can spare some of your time to support our parish, please let us know by calling 201-944-1154,

or email to [email protected]

We are looking for an ARCHITECT among our parishion-ers and friends. We need to upgrade the restrooms in the Parish Church Hall to add handicapped accessibil-ity. The city requires Certified Plans of the work. If you are willing to help us, please call the rectory office or speak to Fr. Chris after Mass.

parishioners who donate their Time and Talent to the service of our church throughout the year. We thank and wish all a BLESSED SUMMER!!

Whatever your summer plans may be, remember:

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

You can only go halfway into the darkest forest; then you are coming out the other side. -- Chinese proverb

Vocationist Corner

Tell me, my Lord, what do You want from me?

Remove me from the number of those who say that they want to do Your Will and yet hold on to their own. I have been one of them, I confess it, but I do not want to continue being one of them! What is not done for Your Glory, according to Your Will, with Your Love, is a total waste.
