Warrington Arts Mark and
School Games Bronze Award
We are delighted to learn that the school has recently been awarded with both the
Warrington Arts Mark 2019 and the School Games Bronze Award 2018/19.
Both awards celebrate the excellent work in our school in support of the Arts and
physical activity and sport.
We hope to build on the fantastic work already taking place in our school and
provide even more opportunities for the children to engage in the Arts and sport in
the future.
Thank you to Mrs Thomason and Mrs Gambles who led the work on the Arts Mark and to Mr Coppenhall who led on the
School Games Award.
Booster Sessions for Year 6
Early doors sessions offering Year 6 children some extra booster work take
place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8.30am with Miss Lennon,
Mrs Orwin, Mrs Crook and Mrs McManus.
Mrs Crook also runs her Grammar Club on Monday afternoons
3.30-4.15pm and Mrs Roberts runs a Times Tables group on Wednesday
3.30-4.15pm.
All children in Year 6 are welcome to attend these sessions which help to boost their knowledge and skills in preparation for the SATs in May.
Year 6 Study Books
Study books for Year 6 children will be available to purchase at Parents’
Evening on 10th and 11th February. These books are really useful for the children to work through at home to practise their skills and knowledge.
Young Voices Choir Concert
Tonight our fantastic choir will
be singing their hearts out at the 2020 Young
Voices Concert at the Manchester Arena.
They have been practising hard with Mrs Neiland
for many weeks and tonight they will join other
school choirs to make one huge choir of 8,000
children!
We hope that the children enjoy the experience
and parents, family and friends who have bought
tickets also enjoy the show.
Thank you to Mrs Neiland for preparing the
children for the concert and to both Mrs Neiland
and Mr Coppenhall for accompanying them to the
Arena.
Big Maths
All children in Year 1 to Year 6 take part in
weekly ‘Big Maths’ sessions in school and
each child has a personal Big Maths folder
which contains all their weekly tests, work
sheets and tracker sheets.
It can really help your child’s learning if
you regularly look at their Big Maths folder
and help them work on areas they may be
finding more difficult.
For example, if you see that your child
regularly makes mistakes on questions
about time, help them to practise telling
the time and ask them quiz them about
time etc.
Any extra help you can give
at home will really help to
improve your child’s Maths
skills.

Policy Reminder
Car Park
Once again could we please remind car park users to take
extra care at the start and end of the school day when the car
park is exceptionally busy. Could we please ask that you:
Only park in designated spaces and be considerate to other
drivers by not blocking them in
Avoid stopping/parking on the driveway
Avoid walking up the driveway—use the footpaths
Thank you for your support.
Area Indoor Athletics Qualifier
On Monday 28 January, Year 6 took part in the
qualifying round of an indoor athletics competition
along with 7 other local primary schools at Beamont
Collegiate Academy.
The children took part in many different events and
did particularly well in the sprint relays, hop skip and
jump and the soft javelin.
Unfortunately on this occasion the children didn’t
qualify for the next round but they all thoroughly
enjoyed taking part.
Thank you to Mr Coppenhall and Mrs Brady for taking
the children along to this event.
