Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved and have a new address? Are all your children still at home, are they included in your parishioner record? Do you want your email included? Do you want a listing in the directory or prefer not to be listed? If you have not already informed the Parish office about changes to your records, please let us know so the information in the Guide Book & Directory is correct. Call us at 281.333.3891.

LITURGY AND WORSHIP LITURGIA Y CULTO

Joyce Lubofsky [email protected] 281.333.3891 Ext. 333

2017 MASS BOOK OPEN Starting Tuesday, November 15th, you may visit the Welcome Center during regular office hours to arrange for the offering of Masses for the new year (up to 3 intentions will be accepted for each Mass, except those Sunday Masses offered for the People of the Parish). You may also make arrangements to offer weekend flowers, weekly bread and wine, and weekly altar/sanctuary candles.

SOME LITURGICAL UPDATES Starting November 27th, the First Sunday of Advent, you will notice some minor changes at Mass: after the distribution of Communion is complete, the cups and bowls used will be returned to the Chapel sacristy by the Eucharistic Ministers and purified after Mass by the Deacon. This is one of the options offered in the General Instruction on the Roman Missal and will smooth the flow of the Mass a little bit. Also, at Sunday 5 PM Mass, the transfer of the Blessed Sacrament will take place from the Church Altar to the Chapel Altar at the end of Holy Communion. Thus we will show ever more clearly that the Lord we adore in Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is one and the same Lord whom we receive in Holy Communion. Effective 2017, all liturgical ministers will have two year terms of service. At the end of their term, each minister will take a one year respite from the ministry to reflect upon how God is calling that person to serve the parish family of St. Paul and the wider Church. If deemed best, the minister can request to resume that ministry after the one year.

SPECIAL THANKS A special word of thanks to Fathers Michael Carmody, David Bergeron, Dominic Pistone, David Bittner and our own Father Jim Bradley for presiding at our Masses in Father Wencil’s absence for the Holy Land Pilgrimage. We are truly blessed to have had their assistance!

Silver Linings Bible Study group will meet in Rooms 10/11 at 1 PM Thursday, December 1st.

There will be one Mass on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, at 9 AM after which the entire parish facility will close until 3 PM on Saturday, November 26th, to allow Father Wencil and the entire staff to spend the holiday with their families.

Please bring with you to Mass a loaf of bread and place it in the baskets around the sanctuary. Father Wencil will bless the bread and then invite those who brought bread to take a random loaf home to their Thanksgiving Table.

Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information.

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living

“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the

faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a

diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have

learned along the way.

Silver Linings Meeting Our monthly program for parishioners 55 and older meets again on Monday, November 14, at 1 PM in room 10. Our guest speaker is Deacon Scott Daniel and we’ll have a potluck luncheon.

Pope Francis: The Fabric of Society

“Jesus wants us to touch human misery, to touch the suffering flesh of others. He hopes that we will stop looking for those personal or communal niches which shelter us from the maelstrom of human misfortune and instead enter into the reality of other people’s lives and know the power of tenderness. Whenever we do so, our lives become wonderfully complicated.

Evangelii Gaudium

Weekly Zumba Classes Join us for fun, energizing Zumba classes. They take place in Founders Hall at 10 AM on Saturday. A $5 donation will go toward the support of various adult ministry programs. All are welcome, regardless of your fitness level. For details, contact [email protected].

Baptism Volunteers Needed This is a volunteer need that doesn’t take a lot of time but can make a HUGE difference in the lives of those you minister to. Our baptism ministry team is in need of parents to help prepare parents and godparents as they seek baptism for their children. The classes meet one Sunday afternoon every other month. Training and all materials are provided. Easy peasy. Contact Heidi at [email protected] to volunteer.

Lenten Parish Mission We are pleased to announce that our Lenten parish mission will feature nationally-known evangelist and author Jon Leonetti. He will be presenting three evenings: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, April 2-4, 2017. Topics he’ll address include who God is and why that matters, saints and scripture, and how to emulate the saints in our daily lives. Each session will last from 7-8:15 PM. Mark your calendars now and start inviting friends and family to join you. The event is free but an offering will be collected.

Next Divorce Care Sessions Set We are truly divorced only when we let go of our marriage, mourn our loss, and adjust ourselves to our new life. At St. Paul, our Divorce Care Group exists to help one another do just that. This is a Catholic peer-ministry support group that addresses the stress, anger, blame and guilt of divorce and leads participants toward forgiveness, happiness and growth. The 14-session program begins Monday, November 28, at 7 PM in the Conference Room. Cost is $30 and financial assistance is available. Free childcare is provided when reservations are made in advance. The program will be facilitated by Laura Hicks, LMFT with the assistance of others who have already completed the program. Contact Heidi Clark if you are interested in participating at [email protected] or 281.333.3891 or to make childcare arrangements.

Gifts of Securities: Donating stock to support the mission of your parish or the Archdiocese can offer even more tax benefits than writing a check. As stock prices increase, so do the taxes you owe on the long-term capital gain, which are generally charged at a rate of 15%. But when you donate publicly traded stock you’ve owned for more than one year to a qualified charitable organization such as your parish or the Archdiocese, you enjoy two major tax benefits:

• You will be exempt from paying capital gains t axes on any increase in value—taxes you would pay if you had otherwise sold the securities.

• You are entitles to a federal income tax deduction based on the current fair market value of the securities, regardless of their original cost.
